Theories on 7 complicated LOST Questions by FREM. * My theories will go over those questions: 1) Why « the island » won’t let Michael die? 2) Why Faraday doesn’t remember Desmond visiting him in the Past at Oxford and why did he write in his Journal that “if anything goes wrong Desmond will be my constant”? 3) Why Desmond remember Faraday knocking at the hatch? 4) Why rules can’t be broken OR CHANGED and why every one of us could die because of it? 5) How does Charles Wilmore knows about the Donkey wheel (secondary protocol) ? 6) Why is Charlotte getting sick and not the other people who are time traveling with her? 7) What is the repercussion of the Island jumping in time? * Key sentences to explain my theories: - The universe has a way of course correcting, and that death cannot be avoided. (Ms. Hawking) - Fate may intervene to any changes. (Ms. Hawking) - You cannot change anything; you can't. Even if you tried to, it wouldn't work .. whatever happened, happened. (Daniel Faraday) * Episodes References: Flashes Before Your Eyes, The Constant, The Shape of Things to Come, Because You Left, The Lie, Jughead,. 1) Why « the island » won’t let Michael die? First let’s start with Ms. Hawking Explanation of time travel in “Flashes Before Your Eyes” She tells us that “The universe has a way of course correcting, and that death cannot be avoided”. > Well I believe the same is true for Life it can’t be ended if it’s not suppose to. So if we take Michael here, he is supposed to die in the freighter explosion not before. So technically it’s not the island that saved him from the car accident, or the gun that jammed, like Tom (AKA Mr. Friendly) said. > But it was the universe and fate that won’t let him or anything kill himself until he’s on the boat. 2) Why Faraday doesn’t remember Desmond visiting him in the Past at Oxford and why did he write in his Journal that “if anything goes wrong Desmond will be my constant”? Ok this one is a little harder to explain here it goes. The word “Today” will be a reference to Faraday’s life nowdays in season 4 + 5 on the island: What Faraday knows and remembers today is from his life when he technically never met Desmond. Whatever happened in his past after today (Desmond going to Oxford seeing him) he can't remember because it’s happening in a past that he already lived. If something would change in his past, the universe and fate would course correct it. And for instance if Desmond would try to kill Faraday in the past while his mind was traveling, he won’t be able to because it’s not suppose to happen fate will make sure of it.

So memories and anything that happened in his passt after today doesn't stay in Faraday’s mind. BUT WRITTINGS will STAY because this isn't part of the memory. So Desmond came to see him in the past and explain him that he was time traveling. So Daniel back then figured out that Desmond mind was time traveling like his Eloise (the rat) and that he was getting sick and eventually die like Eloise (the rat), if he doesn’t find a Constant fast to survive that time travel sickness. So the Faraday back then doesn’t realize it yet, but he won’t remember this visit because it’s just Desmond interacting in his past that he already lived. So the only way he could send a message to warn himself that he could get sick like Desmond, was to WRITE it down in his Journal and write that Desmond will be his constant since he met him in the future and told him to come visit him. Present Faraday also gave to Desmond the frequency number to set up the machine so that Faraday in the past would believe him and help Desmond. Cause writing actually stays and aren’t course corrected not like memories. 3) Why Desmond remember Faraday knocking at the hatch? Faraday tells Desmond that he is uniquely special, and that only he can help them because "the rules" don't apply to him. The rules is referring to his that Desmond can remember things that happened his past even if they are later altered. We can see it three times over the show: Flashes Before Your Eyes. He turns the fail safe key and his mind jump back in time and he is aware of it and his present self remembers it. The Constant. His mind jump back and forth in time and in the present his aware of it he can even remember penny’s phone number. Because You Left. He is in the Future and Faraday intervene in his past to tell him that he is the only one who can save him because rules don’t apply to him. And he is right because he actually as the memory of the meeting.

So here are 2 reasons why he remembers and why Rules don’t apply to him. - First is because he was subject to a large amount of radiation and his mind can mind travel (the swan blast) - Second he was able to find his constant and survive his time travel sickness that makes him uniquely special.

4) Why rules can’t be broken OR CHANGED and why every one of us could die because of it? Ms. Hawking says interesting things in “Flashes Before Your Eyes” http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ms._Hawking She said that if Desmond "doesn't do those things", that "every single one of us is dead". (The producers clarified that by "every one of us will die" she meant every one in the world.) She also says to Ben in “The Lie” that if he can't get all of the Oceanic 6 members back in 70 hours, then "God help us all." One of the rules I explained earlier is that someone who’s not dead in the future can’t die in the past. The thing is that on the island the universe can’t course correct what happens as easily as it can do off the island, because the Island can travel through time and is affected differently by time. The only thing that can fix the Universe course correction on the Island is the Smoke Monster. So if the Oceanic 6 don’t come back to the island in 70 hours and fix the Island jumping through time then the universe won’t be able to course correct things anymore!! And it’s the beginning of the end because everyone is related with the Six Degrees connection thing. So if people on the island would end up traveling through time and affect everyone with a Six Degrees connection around them, then people brains will short-circuit and rules will be completely broken. AND everyone in the world will get sick and short-circuit !! 5) How does Charles Wilmore knows about the Donkey wheel (secondary protocol)? Let’s go back the Benjamin Linus and Charles Wilmore meeting in The Shape of Things to Come. Benjamin Linus and Charles Wilmore are aware of those rules (probably because Wilmore as been studying Faradays research) and Ben knows because Jacobs explained him or he talked to Richard we don’t know yet. They know they can’t kill each other because there not suppose to die now, that implies that they know that they are both alive after that meeting at least. Since you can’t kill someone who isn’t suppose to die. Ben claims that Rules have been CHANGED by Wilmore when he got his daughter killed and that he will kill penny. Could Ben and Wilmore be even more special than Desmond and be able to kill people who aren’t supposed to die? The only special thing I can think of that could give them such power, would be the island Donkey wheel.

In “Jughead” we discover that young Charles Wildmore was one of the first old others. - Could Charles Wilmore also have moved the island with the Donkey Wheel to leave it? - That would Explain how he know about it in the future and gives a secondary protocol to Martin Keamy !

6) Why is Charlotte getting sick and not the other people who are time traveling with her?

The Island is moving through time after Ben turned the wheel, as well as the survivors mind and bodies from when it first jumps. > There are now at most only 10 beach camp residents alive on the time traveling island, including Sawyer, Juliet, Daniel, Charlotte, Miles, Rose and Bernard. Source : http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jughead I’m thinking that Rose, Bernard, Sawyer, Juliet aren’t getting sick because they have a constant each other!! I’m also guessing that Faraday is not getting sick both because he now knows his constant and actually visited him in the hatch! I’m also guessing that Miles is not getting sick, because he is just a weirdo that can talk to dead people :-). So that left us with the other red shirt survivors who have each other as constant. And the only one who is getting sick is Charlotte because she doesn’t have a constant. 7) What is the repercussion of the Island jumping in time? So now we are dealing with a new very serious time travel issue the people time traveling on the island are able to interact as there current future self with people’s past on the island. A little bit like Desmond in “the Constant”. The problem now is that the Universe Rules are being challenged. Like Faraday said to Sawyer “You cannot change anything; you can't. Even if you tried to, it wouldn't work .. whatever happened, happened.” Even if they interact with people’s past like they did with young Charles Wilmore. Wilmore won’t remember it, because like I explained people’s pasts are past already. And the Wilmore we know in the future only remember the stuff from his past life before the confrontation with Faraday, Sawyer, Juliet and Lock. So I’m 100% sure that Wilmore doesn’t remember his meeting with Faraday, Sawyer, Juliet and Lock, because it happened in a past that he didn’t live. The only way he could have known something from that meeting was if he had write down something like Faraday did.

During those time jumps we were able to know a little more about the enigmatic Richard Alpert. He is still hard to figure out though but: Here are key moment’s that can help us a little bit “Locke questioned how Richard even knew Locke was shot in the first place, to which Richard responded that Locke told him so. Locke denied this, and Richard answered, "Well, you will." Richard told Locke that the next time they meet, Richard would not recognize him and gave Locke a compass so Locke will be able to prove they had met before. The last instruction Richard had for Locke was that to save the island Locke would have to bring the Oceanic Six, who had returned to civilization, back to the Island. Source : http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Alpert So apparently Richard remembered his meeting with Lock since he later left the island to come visit him at his birth and as a kid to ask him about the compass. And the future version of himself told him that he would not recognize him. So I’m thinking that David Alpert is a little like Desmond he as constant, that can able him mind travel and not get sick, because his current self remember stuff that have been altered in his past. Now why he doesn’t age is still a mystery, maybe Jacob made him so that his body and soul can survive time and he can use him to protect the Island. Conclusion: Well if you were courageous enough to read all this stuff I hope you will like it. I would love some feedback about it. FREM
