Overview: As technology grows and changes, there is an apparent need for high school students to learn the new skills and tasks that are presented. There are many situations where data is collected. A student may want to calculate his/her grade point average or see where they stand on the baseball team in terms of batting average. Students can get started quickly with Microsoft Excel, a simpler database form, compared to Microsoft Access. II. Topics to be Covered: A. Project 1: Create Template in Excel Database 1. Student Performance Objectives: After teacher instruction and student hands-on activities: 1. Students will learn the basic Excel XP concepts, including formatting and elements of a database. 2. Students will learn how to create an Excel XP database, enter data, and edit data. 3. Students will also know how to modify database components. 4. Students will learn how to print databases and use Excel Help. 5. Students will learn how to create a new introductory database providing their own original content and inputs. 6. Students will be able to cut, copy, paste; change font and font size; change alignment of columns (width); and preview a database before printing. 2 IV.
