Major Responsibilities and Duties

_____1.           Represents the District while acting as liaison officer between the school, home, and other
                  community partnerships.

_____2.           Keeps informed about current legislation, educational developments, literature, and research in
                  parental and community education by participating in state and national professional
                  organizations; attends appropriate conferences and staff development sessions; disseminates
                  professional information and materials to parents and staff.

_____3.           Responsible for Title I, Part A/Title I Part C Migrant parent involvement components and
                  addresses principals with parental involvement concerns.

_____4.           Conducts parental involvement sessions at all campuses.

_____5.           Identifies and implements effective strategies for motivating and involving parents.

_____6.           Monitors, documents, and compiles component program evaluation information monthly for
                  completing a final evaluation report.

_____7.         Coordinates community services for programs related to parental involvement; takes the lead
                in planning for parental involvement meetings and workshops

_____8.         Provides information and refers parents to proper community inter-agencies and educational
                programs.

_____9.         Promotes the continuous enhancement of a climate conductive to open communication and
                productive work with schools and community partnerships.

_____10.        Fosters collaborative educational efforts among staff by supporting the district’s philosophy,
                mission, and its commitment to planning and decision-making.

_____11.        Designs and conducts with all parental aides, parent surveys that will be used to develop
                campus plan activities and plans and prepares the District-wide Annual Parental Conference.

_____12.        Works with local and community media to provide information concerning parent training
                opportunities and school/community initiatives and making Public Service Announcements.

_____13.        Coordinates closely with Executive Director of Federal Programs, principal, evaluator, migrant
                coordinator, other parental aides, and support staff, in developing parent training and assists
                principals with instructional related activities.

_____14.        Compiles various resources available in the community that render services to person’s interest
                and/or needs.

_____15.        Creates and disseminates six District-level Parent Involvement Newsletters annually.

_____16.        Keeps the Director of Federal and Special Programs informed regarding the status on all
                projects undertaken and requests received internally or externally.

_____17.        Originates requisition orders for parental involvement conferences and other related activities.

_____18.        Assists the District’s efforts to increase attendance at every campus and recover dropouts.

_____19.        Makes home visits as assigned.
