                                                                           In the logo layout, the original proportion of
                                                                   1/10A   vertical line to horizontal line, as well as the
                                                                           relation between each element, should be
                                                                   1/10A   kept unchanged. Also, other elements should
                                                                           not be placed within 1/10 A of the logo.
                                                                           Stephen Knoll New York logo can
                                                                           exceptionally be used as “one line”, as
                                                                           indicated below.
                                                                           Stephen Knoll New York should be used
                                                                           as a single logo and, therefore, it should
                                                                           not be used partially, such as “Stephen
                                                                           Knoll”, “Knoll”, or “Knoll New York”.
                                                                           When the logo is to be used on 3
                                                                           dimensional products, such as packages
                                                                           or paper bags, it can be placed vertically.
                                A                                          Nevertheless, it is preferrable that the
                                                                           original horizontal logo be used on the
                                                                           front or side.
                                                                           When the vertical line is longer than the
                                                                           horizontal line in the entire layout, and
                                                                           when logo is placed vertically, size of the
                                                                           logo should be larger than one-third of
                                                                           the entire layout.

                                                                           Typeface of letters should be chosen from
                                                                           the following group, when used with the
                                                                           logo. All fonts should be consistent with
                                                                           the logo type data, prescribed in the
               A 1/3                                                       manual, without exceptions.

                                                                           Light gray should be used for the logo
                                                                           and ”as lightest as possible gray” should
                                                                           be used in printing. However, in offset
                                                                           printing where 4 colors are processed,
                                                                           30% black is also acceptable.

Logotype   Color variations
           Generally, “basic colors” should be used
           for the logo layout and our first choice is
           dark gray. However, depending on the
           combinaion with the backdrop or other
           materials, other colors may be used.
           Nevertheless, it should be chosen from the
           following group; namely, “light gray”,
           “dark gray”, “100% black” or “white”.
           Shown at left.


           Consistency
           All the fonts should be consistent with
           logo type data, prescribed in this
           manual, without any exceptions. In
           addition, the brand logo should not be
           changed, even slightly.
           See below for examples. All the standards
           should be met in the printing media.
           When the back side exists, such as in
           postcards or leaflets, the logo should be
           placed on the primary page.

           Size and position of logo
           When the vertical line is longer than the
           horizontal line of the entire layout, the
           logo should be larger than half of the
           horizontal line.

           On the other hand, if the horizontal line is
           longer than the vertical line of the entire
           layout, the logo should be larger than
           one-third of the horizontal line.

Brand Color                                                          Brand color is an important element which
                                                                     can set the Stephen Knoll New York image.
                                                                     Combination of white and silver are used
                                                                     as the main colors for the brand. Especially,
                                                                     when Stephen Knoll New York logo is
                                                                     used, products should be designated
                                                                     without conflicting with these colors.
                                                                     Besides the main color, “18 accent colors”
                                                                     are also designated, which are to assist
                                                                     and give a better brand image. However,
                                                                     these accent colors should not be used in
                                                                     the logo itself. In principle, more than one
                                                                     of these accent colors should not be used
                                                                     together in the same layout and, also, the
                                                                     total space of accent colors should not
                                                                     exceed that of the main colors.
