                         Message from the Chairman

It is great pleasure that the Egyptian Diabetes Association is collaborating with the
Regional Office of the Middle East and North Africa Region of the International
Diabetes Federation , to organize a group of important activities in the city of
Alexandria . These activities will follow the annual meeting of the MENA Regional
Council .Delegates from allover the MENA Region shall therefore be the active
speakers at a workshop that will design an action plan to transfer the
recommendations of the United Nations Resolution on Diabetes into
implementation procedures at both regional and national levels .

Updates in diabetes care and diabetes prevention , together with two training
courses for physicians and nurses ,are intended to enrich this MENA regional
activity with additional scientific and clinical applications .

The International Diabetes Federation , represented by its current Leaderships:
President , Prof. Martin Silink and President Elect , Prof. J.C. Mbanya are deeply
concerned with an evolutional development of the IDF and an active
implementation of the much valued global awareness that was created by the
declaration of the UN Resolution . Therefore , this regional activity is getting their
strong support

The events and procedures to take place in Alexandria are much hoped to be a
constructive landmark in this direction .

THE NURSE LEADERSHIP COURSE IN NATIONAL DIABETES
EDUCATION ORGANIZATION

Date   : 19 th April 2009

Venue : Hotel Azur and Suzan Mubarak Education Center , Alexandria

Topics : Design of education courses at national levels -objectives -
strategies -evaluation of performance - administrative skills .

Attendees : Applicants for attending the course must fulfill the
            following criteria :
            1. being professionally and actively involved
                in diabetes education .
            2. previous attendance of one of the IDF Regional
                Touring Education workshops in own country.
            3 . Written endorsement from the president of the
                national association testifying active and committed
                involvement in the field of national education in the
                future.
Grants : Accepted candidates shall be legible to receive a grant from
the MENA Regional Funds to cover inclusively all registration fees ,
accommodation for 2-3 nights and partial reimbursement of air travel
( not exceeding 100 USD for Egyptians and 450 USD for non Egyptians . )

N.B. complementary financial support is to be covered by the national
member association or other sponsors .

Training Course –Practical Aspects in Diabetic Foot-Care


Venue : Hotel Azur and Alexandria Medical City Hospital

Topics: Pathophysiology of diabetic foot, Foot injuries, weight bearing and walking
dynamics , Footwear , vascular , plastic and orthopoedic Surgery , Hyper baric oxygen
therapy .

Attendees : Health Care Persons involved in management of the diabetic foot.

Grants: A limited number of accepted candidates shall be legible to receive an
educational grant from the MENA Regional fund to cover inclusively the registration
fees , accommodation for 2-3 nights and partial reimbursement of air travel ( not
exceeding 100 USD for Egyptians and , and 450 USD for non –Egyptians ).
Faculty Speakers : by invitations from the scientific committee .
