Good luck to the Golf teams as they travel to Meridian today. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 3. The State Dept. of Ed. came to CHS and did an audit on our cafeteria and addressed the following problems: 1) Students should not be given cups of ice or tea – 2) students must get all of their food/drink items the first time they go through the line. Students cannot go back to purchase extra items, to get ice cream, or to get items they may have forgotten. 3). Students cannot get items for teachers from the cafeteria. These changes will begin immediately and will be strictly adhered to. 4. Get ready for Earth Day on Thursday, April 22nd. Extra Earth Day shirts for sale in E210 while they last- $12.00. Also, we have a few extra bright green science club shirts for the reduced price of $8. 5. Help St. Jude by buying raffle tickets for a chance to win 1 of 3 decorative Adirondack Chairs. The themes are the following: a New Orleans Saints Championship theme, a Van Gogh-like Starry Night theme and a Vera Bradley-like style flower theme. The drawings will be at the Powder Puff games Monday, April 19th. Tickets are only $2 each and a lot need to be sold to help St. Jude. Ask an Art Club member, Anchor Club member or Spanish Club member for raffle tickets. 6. NHS – another service project is listed in W207. It is April 7th at Clinton Park working with teachers. Come by to sign up. 7. Quiznos continues to support Clinton Athletics by sponsoring Spirit Night/Day. Just mention CHS any time you go in and a portion of your purchase will be donated back to CHS. 8. Students attending prom with dates who do not attend CHS: remember that your form must be returned to CHS by noon Tuesday, April 6th for your date to attend prom. 9. Tryouts for the Clinton High School Lady Arrow Volleyball Team will be held on Tuesday, April 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the CHS gym. If you are interested in trying out, YOU MUST pick up an information sheet in the front office and sign up. This sheet MUST be signed in order to tryout for the team. Reminder – you must sign up in advance in the office. 11. SENIORS: Representatives from Campus supply will be on campus April 20 to deliver senior announcements & keepsakes. Orders must be paid in full before they can be picked up. 12. Seniors: The Junior Auxiliary of Clinton offers a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior. One letter of recommendation is required. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 8, 2010 13. SENIORS: Samsung Techwin America will award 7 $1,000 scholarships to high school students who are willing to write an essay on the topic of technology as an investment in education. A 300 word essay is required & you must have a teacher to sponsor you in order to enter. The website to apply is www.samsungscholarship.com/ Deadline: May 28, 2010. 14. SENIORS: The Clinton Rotary Club will award 2 $1000 scholarships to May graduates. You must live in Clinton to apply for the scholarship, write a 250 word essay describing your major field of studying college, and have 2 letters of reference. Deadline: April 8, 2010. 15. Seniors: Auditions for the 2010-2011 Hinds Community College Hi-Steppers are scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 8:30 AM. Those interested should visit the website www.hindscc.edu/HiSteppers and complete an on-line application. A dance line of 20-30 females will be selected. Those selected will be eligible for scholarships for the fall and spring semesters. 16. SENIORS: The Jr. Civic League of Clinton will award 5 scholarships to May graduates.
