Welcome to the TYPO3 Style Guide This style guide is summarizing the most basic rules for usage of the new TYPO3 Logo. The logo is provided to you under the provisions of the creative commons license. Altering or adding to the logo in any way outside of the limitations of this style guide is a breach of the creative commons license and nullifies the rights to use the logo. Logo construction and save area The new TYPO3 Logo has two elements: the name itself and the logo shape. Size and Position of the elements is based on the grid shown on the left. Each grid unit has a side length of one third of the height of a standard letter of the font typeface. The so-called save area is the area surrounding the logo, that protects it from other graphic elements and helps it to remain easily recognizable. No other graphic element my enter this area in any of your applications of the logo! Logo color To achieve a unique and recognizable impression the logo colors were defined. These colors need to be used without exception. Orange: PANTONE Orange 012C R: 255 / G: 135 / B: 0 #FF8700 Green: PANTONE 354C R: 105 / G: 165 / B: 80 #69A550 The text is black on light backgrounds and white on dark backgrounds. The black on white (positive) variation is the standard and should be used whenever possible. Logo greyscale ATTENTION: Applications in grey scale on dark or light backgrounds use different grey values respectively. POSITIVE: Light: 55% Black R: 140 / G: 140 / B: 140 #8C8C8C NEGATIVE: Light: 35% Black R: 185 / G: 185 / B: 185 #B9B9B9 Dark: 80% Black R: 81 / G: 81 / B: 81 #515151 Dark: 55% Black R: 140 / G: 140 / B: 140 #8C8C8C Please use the color variation (standard) on multicolour backgrounds or the following monochrome version. Logo black and white For particularly plain or extremely small variations the monochrome variations should be used. If possible the black or white variation is to be preferred over other colours. On the following page several examples of different colour spaces are shown. Logo monochrome Monochrome applications can in some extraordinary cases be used, for example when the logo is used within the boundaries of another CI demanding a different colour to be used. The negative monochrome version is to be preferred in this case. IMPORTANT: In these special cases no other colour belonging to the TYPO3 CI is to be used. It is also not permitted to use more than one colour in the logo and typeface combined. Logo on pictures When embedded in pictures, the logo should be placed at the top or bottom of the image. The logo can only be used once per image. The size is flexible, but should not exceed 5% of the image size. In very small applications the black or white variation of the logo is acceptable. IMPORTANT: The logo is not to be placed in any other orientation but horizontally or next to an object. Never treat the logo badly! ATTENTION: Do not change the logo in any way considering colours, relative position of the elements or respective sizes. It’s perfect as it is. Typo3 The corporate colors primary colors additional colors The primary colors are a friendly, bright orange and an inspiring confidence, grave green. Black and white are needs but also should actively used to interact and or seek a contrast to the green and the orange. Having a corporate font means, making every print or screen design a typical and surely recognizable product. Following pages introduce you to the different weights and styles of the TYPO3 corporate font we called: Share. Share comes with the Western European code page. One family, different styles a aaa aa technical text normal text italic mono spaced To include most typographical facilities the font family Share includes diverse styles. The schema box shows how the different styles are classified. Vertical axis defines the design quality of the font. Horizontal axis defines the stylistic quality of the font. The monospaced font on upper left is designed for source code paragraphs only. Next to this a variation with regular leading (not monospaced) but technical font face either, might be used within headlines or special, short paragraphs. The Text fonts come with two weights: Regular and Bold and every with an Italic font face, too. The Text fonts build the main base for the typographical identity of TYPO3. The new logotype is composed with Share-Regular in uppercase. bold regular Free Suitcase and Pro Suitcase Free Suitcase: Share-TechMono and Share-Regular To make it easy for less versed users we offer two different suitcases. The Free Suitcase includes only the basic fonts. Regular for all text and information paragraphs, the Monospaced for score code paragraphs. You can download this suitcase at: http://xxxxxxxx.com The Pro Suitcase includes the complete font family Share. There are more than the six basic fonts you see on the left side. Share has Old style Figures for its text fonts and a so called ExpertSet for all cuts either. For more information about this features please read the following pages. The Pro Suitcase is only available it you have a login bla bla bla at: http://xxxxxxxx.com AaBbCcDdEe 1234 @ AaBbCcDdEe 1234 @ Pro Suitcase: Share complete AaBbCcDdEe 1234 @ AaBbCcDdEe 1234 @ AaBbCcDdEe 1234 1234 @ AaBbCcDdEe 1234 1234 @ AaBbCcDdEe 1234 1234 @ AaBbCcDdEe 1234 1234 @ Two styles of figures Tabular Figures (TF) Typographically there are multiple styles of figures. We chose two to cover nearly all needs of TYPO3. Share includes so called old style figures (OSF) and tabular figures (TF). TF are sized like uppercase glyphs and the figures are monospaced to work best in registers (invoice, etc.). But if TF are used in paragraphs, they look like uppercase forms and do not fit very smoothly to the common text. The OSF which behave like lower case glyphs with ascender and descender do fit best in regular text and do not interrupt the flow of reading. Tabular figures are included in the fonts with common name (Share-Regular, Share Bold, ...) Old style figures you find in the Fonts with OSF at the End of their name (Share-RegularOSF, Share BoldOSF, ...) You find them by name ( Share-RegularExp, Share BoldExp, etc.). Every single cut from TechMono to BoldItalic has its expert set. Additional to the common Western European code page a expert set offers some more glyphs like arrows, nominator and denominator figures, extra mathematical signs, foreign language glyphs which do not appear in all systems within the standard code page and some squares. Single fonts If you wonder why we flood your font menu with 16 single fonts, here is the answer: We build no bounded families (Regular, Bold, Italic, BoldItalic, ...) because we want to make sure the fonts will work on every system the same way. To assure fonts work best on every system this font mapping is the only save solution today (December 2005). ABCDEFGHIHJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnoüqrstuvwxyz 0123456789 !§$%&/()€@?;: ... Expert Set code page ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnoüqrstuvwxyz !§$% / )@ ? TrueType and OpenType Format Windows Macintosh OpenType (otf)* means one format for both platforms. otf makes it possible to use one font on both platforms, Mac and Windows PC. Linux usually can handle otf either (see upper illustration, lower illustration shows the common icons) Because some Gif-Builder ??? or elderly Windows Systems does not accept otf, we also offer a PC-ttf version of Share. screen shot ATTENTION: Do never install both versions (otf / ttf) to the same system, this might cause heavy problems with many applications. Trick! Sometimes the ttf version leads to better renderings with some Gif-Builder you may us within TYPO3 CMS. *Share uses OpenType-CFF The subbrand system TYPO3 basic subbrand system is based on the logos construction grid. The horizontal units are divided into four equal sub-divisions. The font face for the subbrand is Share-Regular The subbrand base line is set to the save areas lowest line. The subbrands height is fixed with 5 sub-divisions heights (1 unit + 1 sub-unit) The starting point of the subbrand is to be set optical below the T of the logo. This specification is not fix but should be handle like in the example on the left side. ... for subbrands uppercase and sentence case is possible q Basic subbrand system + grey variation If subbrands become very long they are not to set smaller or more condensed. The leading of the subbrans is fixed by the metrics of the font and by the mentioned definitions. Color variation You are free to color the subbrand black or to color it in 80% grey (see: the corporate colors) IMPORTANT: Never use any other color for the subbrand than black or 80% grey. PLEASE STILL OBEY THE BASIC LOGO RULES ! Additional subbrand system For a major subbrand like TYCON or the T3 snowboard tour please use this system. Font face for the name is Share-Bold. For Additional information (fx: year) the Share-Regular should be used. There no spaces between any word, name, ore information. Here NO Color variation is designated. ATTENTION: Because there are less major subbrands you find all current subbrands pooled in a eps-file you can download at: http:// xxxxxxxxxxxxxx If produce yourself PLEASE STILL OBEY THE BASIC LOGO RULES and agree with the TYPO3 Association Basic layout rules Main Headline WE Not to be exhausting we give less and easy but strong rules. Developer Meeting 2007 One basic document grid grid (5 mm per unit) ATTENTION: During the next weeks an month we will improve and expand these rules and samples. Please have patience. There is only one grid to be used in all smaller or common print documents up to DIN A2 The basic unit is 5 mm which is divide in two subdivisions (each 2,5 mm) Starting point is the upper left of the document. Margins for text paragraphs should not be less than 15 mm on each side of the document. With smaller sizes (below DIN A5) margins could be less than 15 mm but never fall below 5 mm. Logo in combination with colored bars and areas from top to bottom: super, good, ok sample A simple guide line To assure the logo will appear brilliant please have a look on the color combinations explained on the previous pages and make sure that larger areas of color do not conflicted with the color of the shape.
