System 1200
Can I use non-Leica recommended compact flash cards
with my System 1200 Instruments?

Background System 1200 instruments use Compact Flash (CF) cards as their primary storage
medium. All measurement data collected with System 1200 instruments is stored
on the CF card. Although internal memory is an option, most users elect to use CF
             cards.
Leica’s product developers thoroughly investigated and evaluated most CF cards
available on the market today. CF cards supplied by Leica are optimized to meet
the requirements of Leica instruments, ensuring the highest reliability, robustness,
             and compatibility.
Using a non-Leica approved CF card is putting your hard work and data in serious
jeopardy. There will no benefit from using a non-Leica approved CF card if, at the
end of the day, all of your data is lost.

Answer We strongly recommend that you do not use non-Leica recommended memory cards.
You are taking a huge risk not using Leica approved memory cards. Leica will not
support any data-related issues where a non-Leica approved memory card was used.
