7th Grade Common Team Policies and Information
We are looking forward to working with you to ensure your student has a successful year in 7th grade. The following
are common procedures and policies that we all share on the 7th grade core team. Please read through them with your
student, sign the back, and return by Friday, August 21st.

Bathroom/locker/drink– Students are allowed to leave each core class three times a quarter for the restroom, locker
or to get a drink. Students must fill out a space in the planner on page 11 and bring it to the teacher to sign.

Planners – Planners are $5 and you can pay for them and other school fees at Back to School Night (September 2nd)
or to Bev Hebrink in the Counseling Office.

Lockers – Students are no longer able to have on their person during the day any form of electronics (cell phones,
mp3 players, game systems etc.). Since these are valuable items and will have to be kept in lockers if brought to
school, it is very important that students do not share locker combinations with anyone.

Late Work - Students will have two days after the original due date to turn in late work and will be docked one full
grade for each day late. After the two days, the student will receive a zero.

Supply checks – At least once a week each core teacher will do a supply check for an activities grade. Students must
bring their planners and a reading book and specific class supplies (notebooks, binders, work books, text books etc.)
to each class everyday.

Lunch Detentions – Occasionally we will assign students a lunch detention for minor behavior issues or tardies.
Detentions will be from five to 10 minutes depending on the teacher. Students must report directly to the assigning
teacher’s classroom prior to getting a lunch.

Progress Reports- Student progress reports will be available online through Infinite Campus starting in October.
Until then, we will send home paper progress reports every third Friday starting on September 4th. Look for more
information to come.

Cheating - Any form of cheating; including plagiarism, copying, allowing someone to copy, will result in an
automatic zero for that assignment and a phone call home. See more information on cheating in the Student
Planner.

Grading -
Learning Activities—30% of grade; includes all in-class work, warm ups, quizzes, and homework problems.
Assessments—70% of grade; includes projects, major writing assignments, and tests of mastery.

Academic assistance – 7th grade Academic Assistance will be held on Tuesdays in Ms. Williams’ room (142) and
Thursdays in Ms. Ammerman’s room (130) from 3:15 to 4:15. This is a time for doing homework, studying or
retaking assessments.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns or comments throughout the school year. The most
efficient way to send us a message is through email. Our team/lunch time is from 11:20 to 1:20 each day. This would
be the best time to try to reach us by phone.

Thanks for sharing your child with us.
