Overview:
Cedar Valley Elementary which opened in 1970 is located at 26500 Timberlane Way SE,
Covington, WA 98042. Rhonda Wilkerson serves as principal and Barbara Kelley is the
educational assistant. As the home of the Cheetahs,Cedar Valley serves families in several
subdivisions surrounding the school. The majority of students are able to walk to and from
school.Cedar Valley is a Title I school-wide school with a 49.8% free and reduced lunch rate.
Program offerings include the Learning Assistance Program (LAP), English Language Learning
(ELL) tutoring, Early Childhood Education Program (ECE), Kindergarten Academic Intervention
Program (KAI), and Special Education Support Centers for K-2 and 3 to 6 grade students. An
able and well-prepared staff of 35 certificated teachers/specialist, 14 para-educators, and 8
classified staff serve students in grades K- 6. Cedar Valley's neighborhood middle school is
Cedar Heights.

Mission Statement:
To successfully prepare all students for their future by teaching the attitudes, behaviors, and

Shared Vision/Guiding Principles:
Cedar Valley staff,parents and students work together to promote the highest possible
achievement of all students in reading,writing,math and other content areas.Staff members are
enthusiastic life-long learners who continually improve their professional skills. Instruction is
focused and guided by the Washington State Grade Level Expectations (GLE's). Effective
teaching and learning strategies (based on research proven best practices),support services and
resources enable all students to become proficient in academics,thinking skills and problem
solving. Ongoing assessments are used to inform teachers of curriculum needs and identify
those students who would benefit from additional assistance.Students are nurtured in a
safe,caring environment and take pride and ownership of their education.They display
exemplary citizenship,and promote pride in their school and community.Parents are informed
regularly and actively support education at school and home.
