USA Music Copyright License with Cancellation Provision


USA music publishers, use this template to prepare a Copyright License with cancellation provisions, between the publisher and a recording company. - The music publisher grants the recording company the right to use copyrighted musical compositions in making a specific recording, in return for quarterly payments of royalties on each sale of the recording. - If the recording company fails to meet its obligations, the publisher has the right to cancel the license, but the recording company must still continue to pay royalties. WHEREAS the Publisher warrants that it is the owner of, and / or has the right to grant licenses
under Section 1-E of the Copyright Act of 1909 in connection with the following musical
composition (the “Composition”):

IN CONSIDERATION of the mutual covenants and agreements contained in this Agreement,
the parties hereby agree as follows:

1.     Publisher hereby grants to the Company, for so long as the Company performs its
obligations under this Agreement, the non-exclusive right, privilege and authority to use the
music and / or lyrics of the Composition, in a recording to be made by [insert name of artist] on
record number ###, and on an album, in the event one is made.

2.     The Company agrees to pay to Publisher, for every record sold and paid for which serves
to reproduce the Composition, royalties as set out below:
