We’ve Got It! www.megadox.com BABA PINCUSHION This pattern makes a rustic little Ukrainian “baba” (grandmother) which you can use as a pincushion. MATERIALS: assorted calico and wool fabric scraps polyester fiberfill black & rust-colored embroidery floss small bead for nose pink marking pen FINISHED SIZE: 4” tall. DIRECTIONS: For pincushion base, cut a 9” diameter circle from fabric and machine-baste 1” from edge. Gather the fabric into a ball and stuff with fiberfill; stitch opening closed, trimming excess. For torso, cut a 4 3/4” diameter circle from wool fabric and machine baste 3/4” from edge. Gather, stuff and stitch the opening as for the base. Stitch torso to the skirt with gathered ends facing. Cut a 2” x 10” piece of fabric for the waist ruffle and stitch rolled hems in the long edges. Machine baste 3’4” from one long edge and sew the two ends together.
