CREATING YOUR LIVETEXT PORTFOLIO – You will create a portfolio only ONCE during your MAT
program at Mercer.

    1. Login to your LiveText account.
    2. From MyDesk, click Create.
    3. Under Choose a Folder, choose Mercer University: Portfolios. For Template, choose the template for the
       program you are in:

Early Childhood MAT MAT Early Childhood Education Portfolio

    3. Choose a title for your portfolio; include your full name and your program in your title: example: John Doe’s ECE
Portfolio. Anyone looking at the title of your portfolio needs to recognize that it IS a portfolio, who it belongs to,
and what program you are in – give them that information in its title. Click Create Document.
    4. THINGS TO AVOID:
           a. Do not name your portfolio something besides what is requested in #3 above – no clever titles, no cryptic
titles, no informal or abbreviated titles.
           b. Do not name your portfolio with the name of a specific assignment/artifact.
           c. Do NOT create more than one portfolio for a particular program.

ATTACHING YOUR INITIAL TEACHING PHILOSOPHY TO LIVETEXT:

Login to your LiveText Account - Go to My Desk and open your ECE portfolio

Click on the section labeled “Reflecting” on the left

Go to Artifact #1: Beginning Philosophy and select Edit

Label your artifact with the course name and semester (Example: EMAT605 Spring 2008)

Next go to Attachments at the bottom of the screen with the paperclip icon.

In the new window that opens, click Browse and locate and select your initial teaching philosophy file that you want to
attach.

When the selected file appears in the box next to the Browse button, click Attach.

When it appears under the Attach section, click Finish. This takes you back to your editing section, where you should
now see the file listed at the bottom, in the Attachments. (To remove an attachment, go back into the Attachments window
and click the remove link next to the one you want to get rid of.)

For this course EMAT605 you are just submitting an artifact. You will not be reflecting on your philosophy until the end of
your program when you compare your Beginning Philosophy to your Transforming Philosophy.

Save and Finish. Be sure to Submit for Review to ECEC.

ATTACHING YOUR INDIVIDUAL UNIT TO LIVETEXT:

Login to your LiveText Account - Go to My Desk and open your ECE portfolio

Click on the section labeled “Practicing” on the left

Find the Standard (Planning/Integrated Instruction) on the right and under artifact click Edit

Label your artifact with the course name and semester (Example: Instructional Unit - EMAT605 Spring 2008)

Next go to Attachments at the bottom of the screen with the paperclip icon.

In the new window that opens, click Browse and locate and select your unit file that you want to attach.

For this course EMAT605 you are just submitting this unit artifact. You will not need to complete a reflection. This unit will
be used as a beginning example of unit design. You will compare it to the unit created in EMAT621 at the end of your
program. No reflection is needed for this semester.

Save and Finish. Be sure to Submit for Review to ECEC.

More Information about SUBMITTING YOUR PORTFOLIO FOR REVIEW:

    2. Type in the username ECEC that corresponds to your Early Childhood Education program. When the account
name appears in the box, click on the name and then click Submit.
    3. When you add or revise anything in your portfolio choose, Submit for Review, to ECEC so your changes will be updated.

                                             CANDIDATE INFORMATION FORM

All Tift students must complete this form in their LiveText accounts. EACH SEMESTER, WE ASK THAT YOU CHECK
YOUR FORM TO BE SURE THE INFORMATION IS STILL CORRECT. Please be careful to identify your program
correctly and NOT to provide answers for any questions that are not applicable to you. To complete or check your
information in this form, do the following:

   1. Login to your account and click the Forms link in the left menu (Under the Tools section). You should see four or
more forms listed there. Ignore all but the one entitled “Candidate Information Form.”
   2. If you have already filled it out or it has been filled out for you, the title of the form will be a link – click the title to
see the information that is currently in the form. If it is correct, do nothing.
   3. If it is incorrect, click the Go Back button at the bottom of the form and return to the list of forms, then click the
Take Again link; complete the form with the correct information and Submit.
   4. If the title is not a link, that means your form is empty; click Take Form, then complete and submit the form. After
you have completed this form correctly, you will not need to do it again unless you change programs.
   5. Guidelines for completing this form:
             a. No form should have information for both Initial AND Advanced programs. Complete ONLY field 4 OR
field 5, not both – leave the other one blank or N/A.
             b. If you change from one program to another, please make the changes in this form during the first
semester you go to your new program. Candidates who complete one program (e.g. an initial certification
program) and then enroll in another program (e.g. an advanced graduate program) should ensure that the
current version of their completed form reflects the new program and that all of the old program
                 information has been removed.
     6. Beginning in Fall 2007, a view of this form will appear in the Dispositions Assessment Permission document,
giving you an opportunity to check it each semester to ensure that the information is accurate for that semester.

                                                   DISPOSITIONS ASSESSMENT:

Create only ONE Dispositions Assessment Permission document each semester, using the following procedure:

   1. Login to your LiveText account.
   2. Click Create. Under Choose a Folder, choose Mercer University: Dispositions. For template, all Teacher Ed
      candidates choose Dispositions Assessment Permission.
   3. Name your document: Dispositions, [semester] – to indicate the semester, use the following format: 07U (for
summer), 07F (for fall), 08S (for spring). Do not include anything else in the title. Example: Dispositions, 07F.
   4. Skip Description; click Create Document.
   5. Your document will then open; note that a new section appears for the first time in Fall 2007. Your Dispositions
Assessment Permission now includes a view of your Candidate Information Form on the first page. Please follow
the directions in the document itself, to ensure that the information in this form is correct before submitting it to
      your instructors.
   6. When you have ensured that the Candidate Information Form information is correct for this semester, submit this
document for review to all your instructors (including University Supervisors, if you are doing a field placement)
      by doing the following:
          1. Click Submit for Review (upper right).
          2. Type your EMAT605 instructor’s name (Sherah Carr or Susan Bearse), wait for it to look up the name,
then select your professor. You can also add professors from other courses this semester.
          3. Once the appropriate accounts appear in the box, click Submit.

           THINGS TO AVOID:

Do NOT create more than one dispositions assessment permission document in a single semester.
Do NOT include anything in your Dispositions Assessment Permission document title other than the word
           “Dispositions” and the current semester.
Do NOT submit your Dispositions Assessment Permission document to any of the generic accounts – only

submit it to the instructors of the courses you are taking and the university supervisor for your field placement
