Cost: $30 per horse and rider combination in each discipline
8:30 – 9:00 Registration
Ring 1 Clinician - Mary Hawley (limit to 6 participants)
9:00 - 9:30 Driving Clinic begins with harness and buggy check
9:30 – 11:00 Driving lessons and clinic
Ring 2 Clinician - Margaret Hershberger, NWHA judge (limit to 16 participants)
9:00 - 9:30 Saddleseat & Gaited Clinic starts with discussion of proper tack & attire
9:30 – 11:00 Saddleseat & Gaited lesson and clinic
11:00 – 12:00 Measuring (this box must be checked on registration form for management to schedule)
11:00 – 12:00 Lunch (participants must bring their own bag lunch and drinks – nothing is available on
the grounds)

2:30 – 3:00 Sidesaddle Clinic starts with proper fit of saddle and tack check
3:00 – 4:30 Sidesaddle lesson and clinic
The side saddle portion of the clinic is not a district qualifier for state. It is strictly for
educational purposes only. The instruction is intended to assist participants in determining if
this could be an additional class to participate in at state. If the instructor deems the horse and
rider are a danger to themselves or other participants then they will be asked to dismount and
not participate in the mounted portion of the clinic.
Rules & Guidelines
  • All participants must be a 4H horse project member. All animals must be their 4H
      project horses.
  • Each horse/rider combination may participate in both clinic sessions but must pay fees
      for both.
  • If another horse is to be qualified at this clinic, then rider must complete separate entry
      and ride/drive in an additional section.
  • The side saddle portion of the clinic is not a district qualifier for state. It is strictly for

  • 4Hers not participating are welcome to audit at no cost but must sign an equine waiver.
  • Only riders registered for the clinic are permitted to ride on the grounds during the clinic.
  • Only horses registered for the clinic are allowed on the grounds
  • Current Coggins within 12 months must be brought to the clinic with your horse before it
      is unloaded
  • All participants must wear ASTM SEI certified helmet, proper riding boots and for those
      on horseback they must have proper riding pants
  • Participants should dress according to weather. Show attire will be discussed but will not
      be necessary for participants to wear for the clinic.
  • Horse/Rider combinations deemed unsafe by clinician will NOT be considered qualified
      for the state show, and must qualify at another event
  • Leave all DOGS at home!

Entry Procedures:
   1. Entries accepted on first come, first served basis, and based on postmark
   2. Entries must be received by 17 April 2008 (postmarked will not count)
   3. Entrants will be notified via phone or email to confirm receipt of entry.
   4. Scratches will have spot filled from waitlist and refunds made ONLY if their position is
       filled.
   5. After 20 April, refunds made only with written Veterinarian statement (or doctor).
   6. “NO Shows” will not receive a refund.
   7. Management reserves the right to cancel or combine clinic if insufficient entries are
       received.
   8. Complete entry form attached, include Health History Form, Code of Conduct Form,
       Equine Waiver and copy of current negative Coggins test within 12 months
   9. Attach entry fee package and check ($30 per horse rider combination) made out to Lucky
       Bits & Spurs 4H Club. If any profits are made at this event then all proceeds will go to
       Lucky Bits & Spurs 4H Club.
   10. This clinic will follow all VCE and VA 4H Horse Program policies.

One entry per horse and rider combination and clinician fees for each combination will be $30.

I agree to participate under the rules of 4H and this clinic and agree that neither the clinic nor sponsors will be
responsible for any accident or injury to the person or property of any participant or other person. The
participant agrees to indemnify the clinic organizers, instructors a, employees, property owners and heirs
against any claim or liability for damage caused by him or his animal. The applicant and/or representative
hereby agree to abide by all rules for this 4H clinic including the entry system. Exhibitor and parent or guardian
hereby attests that they have read the rules for this event and that this applicant and entry meet all rules and
regulations for this event.
