                               THE GOLFERS CLUB 2010 KWAZULU-NATAL AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
                                         TO BE PLAYED AT UMHLALI COUNTRY CLUB
                                                                               ON THE 19TH – 23rd MAY
1.(a)         Open to any Amateur who is male member of a recognised Golf Club affiliated to a Union recognised by the South African Golf Association and who, at the time of
              lodging his entry shall have a handicap of FIVE or Less.
1.(b)         The Amateur Championship shall be played in two stages: a qualifying stage of 36 holes stroke-play, on May 19th & 20th.
              The 32 players returning the lowest aggregate score qualifying to play in the match play stage. All ties for thirty- second place shall be played off over a short course to be decided
              by the KZNGU Executive. In the match play stage each match shall be over 18 holes, except the final which shall be over 36 holes. In the event of a halved match over 18 holes
              (36 holes final), play will continue until one of the opposing players wins a hole when the match will be won by such player. The winner of the Championship to hold the Floating
              Trophy and receive a medal. Prizes to the winner, runner up, losing semi finalists and leading qualifier.

              1ST AND 2ND ROUNDS MATCHPLAY: FRIDAY 21st (AM/PM) QUARTER AND SEMI FINALS: SATURDAY 22nd (AM/PM)
              FINAL: SUNDAY 24th - 36 HOLES
2.           THE MACKENZIE CUP
(Original Natal Amateur Championship Trophy presented by Sir CBE Mitchell, Governor of Natal and won out-right by Lt-Col GK Mackenzie in 1904. Presented to the NGU by his
family in 1965.)
This competition is open to the next 16 players who fail to qualify for the match-play stages of the Amateur Championship. Ties for sixteenth place to be played off as in the Amateur
Championship. The competition will be decided by match play under the same conditions as those laid down for the Amateur Championship, except that the first round only will be played on
Friday. The winner of the Championship to hold the Floating Trophy and receive a medal. Prizes to the winner and runner-up. No additional entrance fee.
1ST MATCH PLAY ROUND: FRIDAY (am) QUARTER & SEMI FINALS: SATURDAY(am/pm FINAL:SUNDAY, 23rd, 36 HOLES(ALL DAY)
                                                                                      OTHER CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
3.     All competitions shall be played under the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the Bye-laws and Local Rules of the Host Clubs as approved
       and amended by the Executive of the KZNGU. All entries must be accompanied by the Entrance Fee and detail called for in the Entry Form must be fully completed.
4.     All entries shall be subject to the approval of the KZNGU Executive which reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving any reason for such refusal and the decision of the
       Executive as to the acceptance or refusal of any entry shall be final. The Executive may, at its discretion, limit the number of entries accepted.
5.     Players shall start at the time laid down by the Committee (Rule 6-3(a)). However, it is a condition of the stroke-play qualifying rounds that, if a player arrives at his starting point, ready to
       play his stroke-play round within five minutes of his starting time in the absence of circumstances which warrant waiving the penalty of disqualification, as provided in Rule 33-7, the
       penalty for failure to start is two strokes at the first hole instead of disqualification, If a player arrives at his starting point for his Match-play round after his starting time, he shall be
       disqualified.
6.     Times of play, disputes and all other arrangements connected with the Championships and competition shall be decided by the Executive of the KZNGU which has the power to alter the
       programme at its discretion.
7. Outside Caddies are NOT permitted.
8. Competitors may not ride motorized carts or use distance measuring devices.
9. The KZNGU reserves the right to change the Venue in case of exceptional circumstances, either in part or entirely, to another course for the event and also reserves the right to alter the
      advertised times of starting.
10. Competitors may only use those golf balls and drivers appearing in the current list of Conforming Golf Balls and drivers and must ensure that the grooves of their Clubs meet the
      specification of the Rules of Golf.
11. Exemption of Liability:
       The Host Club, Union and their management will not be held responsible for any damages, loss, including personal loss and or other forms of loss, harm or injury sustained as stipulated
       below:
       The Host Club and Union will not be held liable for any of the following:
       1.1 Physical and/or emotional injuries suffered during the tournament/championship, due to any acts of God, suffered as a direct result thereof, including aspects such as being struck
              by lightning, etc.
       1.2 Physical injuries of any kind suffered by any person, including a player or spectator sustained by own negligence, or otherwise.
       1.3 Emotional injuries sustained due to any loss, including death, suffered as a result of any of the above injuries sustained personally or by a spectator.
       1.4 Damages suffered to any property of a player.
              The player acknowledges the exemption of liability of the Union and it’s management as listed above when he signs the acknowledgement also acknowledges the contents of the
              above, understands it, and exempt the Host Club and Union from any liability as indicated above.
              The Host Club and Union does not warrant or guarantee the safety of any person.
12. Dress regulations on the course as set by the Host Club must be strictly adhered to. Should short trousers be worn, they may not be longer than knee height.
13. Practice Rounds must be arranged through Telephone: 032-9471181. Practice rounds will be available to Players the week before the Tournament.
