The term consumption describes the use of goods and services for the
immediate satisfaction of needs. The terms use, usage are about „using up‟
and use of goods. “Consume” also includes the individual act of consuming.

Consumer Education has never been controversial as a component of general
economic education. State-of-the-art Consumer Education is a new concept: it
enables individual self-determination and makes it possible to take on social
responsibility1.


Consumer Education is necessary for survival in the consumer society and is
directly connected to the skills needed to master every-day life.
Many people are not only unconscious of their own consumer behaviour, but
do not understand how and to what extent they can influence the economy,
the environment and the society through their individual consumer behaviour.
They are no longer capable of participating actively in the market.
