Summary:

The Center for American Progress has an immediate opening for a PHP
Developer. The Developer will install, maintain, and modify a variety of open
source packages and will create custom programs focusing on the development
and maintenance of the code-base.

Job Responsibilities:

   •   Working with a variety of open source packages, content management
       systems, bulletin board software, premium service integrations, client
       API's, and portals;
   •   Along with all other technical personnel, maintaining an awareness of
       system security, including monitoring of security advisories and logs,
       availability of software upgrades, and good coding practices;
   •   Working with a team of experienced communicators and technologists
       who understand the strategic application of message, design, and
       technology to help their clients work seamlessly; and
   •   Conceptualizing requirements for the design and administration of
       complex applications to accommodate a variety of user needs.

Job Requirements:

   •   Proven knowledge and expertise in working with PHP in an operational
       setting;
   •   Strong ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-
       technical individuals;
   •   Ability to work under pressure/tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
   •   Ability to initiate projects and balance multiple projects at once;
   •   Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a team; and
   •   Commitment to the Center’s mission and goals.

Job Qualifications:
   •   At least three to five years of professional experience with at least two
       years in PHP-based development;
   •   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience;
   •   Experience supporting large public servers on the Internet;
   •   Experience working with MySQL, and other open source tools;
   •   Proficiency with ColdFusion and Perl are pluses;
   •   Non-profit experience a plus; and
   •   Experience working with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations a plus.
