               Background of ECEDHA

• The organization was originally called AEEDH,
  standing for Association of Electrical
  Engineering Department Heads
• First meeting at ASEE in Philadelphia, 1963
• Most AEEDH meetings were held at ASEE
Annual Meetings and, starting in 1971, at the
  annual Frontiers in Education conference
• Later called EEDH

               Background of ECEDHA

• In 1985 the organization held its first stand-alone
meeting at Hilton Head apart from ASEE or FIE
• Changed its name to NEEDHA in 1986
• In 1986, the International Engineering
Consortium (IEC) took over the “management”
  of NEEDHA
• In 2001, NEEDHA became the Electrical and
  Computer Engineering Department Heads
  Association (ECEDHA)
