CRITERIA: Content
Paragraph #1: Introduction
Who are you? Identify yourself as the driver of the team.
What is your team's name? What were you called before your sponsor agreed to
fund you?
Why are you writing to them? Ask for a certain amount of money, say what the
money will be used for. Justify the amount you are asking for.
Paragraph #2: 3-4 sentences answering: Why should your team get the
sponsorship?
Give information the company would need to make this decision. You can make up
information about your racing career that would convince the company that you would
be a good investment.
Paragraph #3 3-4 sentences answering: What will the sponsor get out of
the deal?
Be creative, what will you do for them? How will you advertise for them, be specific.
Paragraph #4 Closing How/where will you meet to discuss your offer?
Ask them to meet you at a specific time & location, let them know that you will call to
confirm the meeting or how they can get in contact with you.
Thank them for reading your letter.
Add a catchy slogan for the company to help remember you by.
4. Test (present the business letter to parents) and evaluate the results
(make changes)
Have your parent(s) proof read and evaluate your letter based on the criteria above,
make the changes suggested.
