LaVone Johring Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 607 N. 9th St. O’Neill, NE 68763 402-336-1909 December, 2004 Greetings to you and yours. It doesn't seem like it was a year ago that I was writing to you. I hope this finds you all busily preparing for this very special season. The meaning of this holiday makes it very special. I am looking forward to having some of my family here for Christmas. That helps to make it a very special time. I try to keep involved in different activities at Church as well as community things. Time can really drag when there isn't something that I can do. I try to keep busy sewing and such like. I have made some quilts this year, embroidered some things, and I do some crocheting. I do get out of town whenever the opportunity comes my way. I think I told you last year that I was going to California in January to visit my son and his wife, Fred and Jeri. I had a wonderful time there. I got to see Fred's two kids, Jim and Jessica, plus Jessica's husband, Ryan and their son, Richie. I spent time with my sister, Jeanie and her husband, Stan, also. They always make my time there so special. We played lots of Dominoes which I enjoy. In June, Jessica and Ryan blessed our family with a baby girl, Emily so now I have two great grands. Since I was out there they have moved to Georgia. Ryan is in the Navy. It will probably be a while before I get to see them again. I visited my brother and his wife in Phoenix as I had a break in my flight there. I plan to stay over night with them when I go again this coming January. Friends from here are flying to California again and they have invited me to go with them, so they take me to Omaha and back which is very nice for me. Son, Mark and his wife, Tina live in Rapid City, S.D. now. I got to go there in October with my son, Craig. He had to go to Chadron with his work so we went on up there to see them. It was a beautiful time of the year to go. Craig and I spent one day at Mt. Rushmore. We did so much walking up and down lots of steps and my legs were sore for several days after that. We enjoyed driving thru the badlands on our trip home and they were so beautiful. The Johring cousins had a reunion this past summer and that was a fun time. There was only one that didn't get to come. (The Johring aunts had a great time also. Glad to be included.) We hadn't seen some of them for many years and it was so good to get re-acquainted with them. O yes, there was lots of good food. I went to Iowa one weekend to visit my granddaughter, Crystal and her husband, Brian. I enjoyed getting to go see them and also their new home. We went to a huge antique show in Walnut, Iowa while we were there. It is a small town but there were many antiques to see. They had the streets blocked off so the vendors could set up. I didn't buy anything but it was fun to look. I am looking forward to hear from you. I enjoy your letters so much. Have a great holiday! Mt.
