    What is prophecy?
    Are there prophets alive today that
    have the same role as prophets in the
    Old Testament?
    Respond to the statement...
     Let me put it to you this way, if there is a God
     so benevolent that he created everything and
     gave us free will, then he wouldn't have the
     human frailty of vanity and want to be
     WORSHIPED. He also wouldn't be jealous and

    With the person next to you, starting
    with “In the beginning God...” and
    moving to the end of the old testament,
    share as many stories, in order, as you
    can in 5 minutes, alternating back and
    forth with your partner, to show what
    God’s plan was/is for mankind from
    God’s perspective.

    Who was the last prophet God gave to
    speak to man in the old testament?
     Malachi reminded the Jews that God’s
     promised Deliverer would come to save them
     Malachi also told them that, before the
     Deliverer came, God would send another
     prophet
     This prophets’ work would be to teach the
     people so that they would be ready for the
     coming Savior

    to the beginning of the New
    Testament?
    During this time, what preparations was
    God making for the fulfillment of His
    great promises to send a Savior for the
    whole world?
     Common language, Roman Roads, dispersing
     His people to many different countries

     From these verses what do you know about
     Zachariah and Elizabeth?
      They trusted in God and believed His Word
      They demonstrated their faith in their actions of
      offering sacrifices just as God had commanded
      through Moses
      Because they trusted in God and came to Him the way
      He had told them, God accepted them just as He had
      accepted Abel and all the others who had trusted in
      Him from the beginning of the world!

    God foretold the birth of John through
    the prophet Malachi. God not only
    foretold many things through His
    prophets, but everything He promised

     How many years before the messenger (John)
     was born did God reveal to His people that He
     would send a messenger?
     What was the job of the messenger according
     to Malachi 3:1?

     for the arrival of the Promised Deliverer
     The angel called the Deliverer “the
     Lord.”
      What did the angel mean by “the Lord?”

     The coming Deliverer, the Savior of
     all men, was to be God Himself!

      Could God have chosen someone else to be

     What do we know about the Promised
     Redeemer from Genesis 3:15.
     Jesus is now the Son of God and the

      What does the phrase, “The Lord God will give
      him the throne of his father David...” mean?
     Again, God had announced these
     things to His people 600 years earlier
     through the prophet Isaiah.

      Jesus is to be King forever!

     Because Jesus was to born without a

      God is Holy and perfect, without sin
      Jesus would not inherit Adam’s sinfulness

     Throughout the Old and New
     Testaments, what do we know about
     Jesus?
      The one announced in the Garden
      Descendant of King David
      The anticipated Deliverer
      The hoped for Savior
      The Holy Son of God
      God in a human body, the holy sinless Son of
      the holy sinless God!
