          Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore-- and then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load
Or does it just explode?
               Dreams
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
         April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with
silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our
roof at night
And I love the rain.
Langston Hughes received various awards for his writing.
He write a best seller called
Simple Speaks His Mind. He also write a play
that ran on Broadway. He died in 1967.
