                                                for
                                Administrative Coordinator Series
                                 Office of the Jury Commissioner

POSITION SUMMARY:

       The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for project management and
       overseeing the progress of special initiatives within the Office of Jury Commissioner.
       He or she will participate in all activities related to the development, implementation and
       subsequent operation of projects related to the Massachusetts jury system. The
       Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating all
       implementation activities, monitoring the progress of implementation, training court
       personnel, and recognizing and resolving problems at an early stage.

       The position title above the entry level performs higher level supervisory type functions
       and requires greater knowledge of policies and procedures and greater independent
       judgment. Employees are hired at the entry level position title and are eligible for
       reclassification to the higher level position title consistent with the specifications for the
       higher level position title. The position title reverts to the entry level when there is a
       vacancy.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEVELS:

       Administrative Coordinator I - This is the entry level position title within this series.
       Employees are expected to coordinate all of activities of programs, to assist in the
       development of new programs, and to train for the next higher level.

       Administrative Coordinator II - This is the second level position title within this series.
       Employees at this second level are expected to perform quality control functions and to
       take a lead role in the development of new programs.

MAJOR DUTIES:

       Administrative Coordinator I Duties

       Oversees and coordinates the activities of projects, programs and initiatives within the
       Office of Jury Commissioner.
    Assists in planning and implementation activities of new projects, programs and
    initiatives.

    Monitors progress of implementation activities against the implementation plan to ensure
    that implementation is timely completed.

    Participates in all aspects of public interaction at the Office of Jury Commissioner,
    including Juror Helpline, community outreach, monitoring website, forms revision, and
    juror assistance, as needed.

    Interacts with court personnel, government officials, and members of the public and
    private sector to further the objectives of the Office of Jury Commissioner.

    Drafts reports, correspondence, and other written materials on programs or initiatives.

    Assists all departments of the Office of Jury Commissioner with projects as required.

    Performs related duties as required.

    Administrative Coordinator II Additional Duties

    May communicate with the media and others outside the court system to promote the
    jury system and the work of the Office of Jury Commissioner.

    Analyzes statistics and develops databases and other tools to assist in administration of
    projects and programs.

    Develops operating policies, procedures, and forms.

    Plays a lead role in the development of new projects.

    Provides continuing advice and support to court personnel and others as needed.

    Identifies and recommends initiatives and improvements to Deputy Jury Commissioner.

    Performs all of the duties of the lower level position title.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Administrative Coordinator I Requirements

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public
    administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Up to four years experience in administration, marketing, or public relations.
Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and related software, including
Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, WordPerfect for Windows, and spreadsheets.

Knowledge of court functions, procedures and operations.

Knowledge of website design, data processing concepts and functions a plus.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Writing sample required.

Ability to work independently.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with persons at all
levels, including judges and legislators, and to maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to analyze problems and to develop feasible solutions.

Knowledge of court functions, procedures and operations.

Ability to travel throughout the Commonwealth.

Administrative Coordinator II Additional Requirements

A minimum of three years of experience as an Administrative Coordinator I.

Considerable knowledge of court functions, procedures and operations.

Demonstrated ability to lead projects.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate and identify problems and to propose feasible solutions.

Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to exercise
independent judgment.
SALARY RANGE: Beginning at $43,519.16, with annual increases to $55,387.99.
