NOTICE OF STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Rockdale County Public School encourages daily school attendance so that students can take
advantage of our excellent school programs. Regular student attendance is a high priority at
Rockdale County High School. It is vitally essential to each student as it affects their academic
progress and the development of attitudes for his/her adult life. According to the laws of
Georgia, compulsory school attendance is required of all students ages six through sixteen. In
addition, federal guidelines under the “No Child Left Behind” Act stipulate that schools carefully
monitor and meet stringent attendance standards in order to meet Adequate Yearly Progress.
Parents, it is extremely important to remember that if you need to sign your child out of
school, you MUST come in to the front office. A student leaving the building must be signed
out. When a student is absent, written notes or doctor’s excuses MUST be presented within 3
days of the student returning to school. The absence will not be considered excused after 3
days per Rockdale County Public School Policy.
The Rockdale County Public Schools Attendance Guidelines and Procedures have been adopted
by the Board of Education. Rockdale County Board of Education Policy JB, Student
Attendance, can be viewed in its entirety by accessing the Board Policies link on the school
system’s website at www.rockdale.k12.ga.us.
Together we can assure the success of all of our students if we each do our part. Your
cooperation in ensuring that your child attends school on time every day is greatly appreciated.
As always, thank you so much for your continued support.
