Hansabanka rapidly increases the number of clients who use its Internet banking services in Latvia Baltic IT Review 3 '2000 There are 13 banks in Latvia which offer Internet banking services at this time - Hansabanka, Unibanka, Latvijas Krājbanka, Saules banka, Trasta Komercbanka, Rietumu banka, Pirmā Latvijas Komercbanka, Multibanka, Merita Nordbanken, Baltijas Tranzītu banka, Aizkraukles banka, Lateko banka and Banka Paritāte. Hansabanka was one of the first to offer these services to its clients, and it has been doing so since June 1, 1997. Hansabanka has set itself the goal of providing Internet banking services to at least 20,000 clients by the end of this year. Among them, up to 70% could be active users – those who make at least three payments each month with the help of the Internet banking system. Over the course of three years the bank plans to increase the number of Internet banking clients to 70,000. Hansabanka’s Internet banking system is available in Latvian, Russian and English and provides full Internet banking services – the ability to view one’s account status and to engage in all kinds of payments. Payments to the telephone operators Lattelekom, LMT and Baltcom GSM are defined, moreover, and the client does not have to enter all of the information each time the payment is made.
