                                         SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Zeta Omicron Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated is pleased to
announce its 2010 Scholarship Program. Seated in the heart of North Philadelphia, Zeta Omicron
Lambda has been serving the Philadelphia community for over 52 years. Through this annual
scholarship program, we seek to recognize 2010 graduating high school seniors and students enrolled
in undergraduate or graduate programs, who have exhibited exceptional academic performance,
excellence in leadership and dedication to community service.
The Chapter will provide three outstanding High School Students in the Philadelphia Region with a
$1,000 scholarship to be used for their fall college enrollment. The Mickle Family Scholarship will be
awarded to one undergraduate or graduate student who:
1.          Is an active member in good standing of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
2.          Applicant must be enrolled full time at an accredited HBCU.
3.          Applicant must have maintained an overall and major GPA of at least 3.0.
4.          Applicant must have Junior Year standing or higher in credits earned.
5.          Student must document declared major in one of the following areas of study: business,
            mathematics, law, pharmacy, education, theology, art, engineering or accounting.

Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-American
men, was founded in 1906 on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven young
college men. The Founders and early leaders of the Fraternity succeeded in laying a firm foundation
for Alpha Phi Alpha's principles of scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the uplifting of

Today, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity continues to be one of the most influential black organizations in
the world-with over 150,000 members initiated since its inception. There are now over 500 chapters in
North America, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. Currently, the Torch of Enlightenment,
Scholarship, and Brotherhood is still carried by the Members of this most illustrious fraternity. Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was the first and remains the very heart and soul of Black Greek Letter
Organizations worldwide.
