 School Board passes significant actions.
Now in its fourth month of holding regular monthly meetings, the DLA School Board has
passed a number of significant actions, some of which are as follows:
o Application for membership in PERAA (Private Education Retirement Educational
Annuity Association) to address the retirement benefit package for regular
permanent academic and non-academic personnel of the school. With only 3.25% of basic salary of the
personnel as monthly premium, which the school has to shoulder, staff and faculty can look forward to a
retirement/separation pay after a certain number of years of faithful service to the institution.
o Approval of the faculty ranking criteria as basis for merit increases in the future. The criteria include
educational qualification, 40%, professional growth, 40% and years of service, 20%. Under the criteria of
professional growth, 20 points go to teaching performance and the remaining 20 points are distributed
among continuing education, membership in professional organization, service to the church and
community as well as to the school. For years of service, 1 point is given for every year of service in the
            DLA.
o Granting of 10% discount in tuition fees to children of church and school personnel enrolled in the DLA.
o Charging 5% of amount due as penalty for delayed monthly or quarterly payments. This will be for
            implementation next school year.

 IAC scheme helps construct school building.
The Invest-a-Cash fund generation scheme for the school building construction was willingly
responded to by at least 10 people from here and abroad raising a total of P2.18M in loans payable in
five years. Church members and friends who entrusted to the school hard-earned savings as
personal loan to help construct at least the ground floor of the building included Olga/Emer Frani,
Joann/Allan Samonte, Leng Lubang, Letth Lubang-Seah, Atanacio/Liling Fauni, Gertrudes/Ed Fauni-
Reyes, Dave Samson, Jerson Sapida and Rucila Tumitit. Donations were also received from the
Tirona family, an initial gift of $6,000.00 from the $12,000.00 pledge for the school library in memory of the late
Damaso Tirona and P40,000.00 from Ms. Myrna Sapida-Chan. Finishing touches for the ground floor are
underway with November as targeted month for completion. This first phase of construction covers two
classrooms, administration offices, faculty lounge cum temporary clinic and reading room.

 DLA faculty and staff hold spiritual retreat. In connection with the Spiritual Formation Week, which was
observed from September 5-9, 2005, the faculty and staff went on a one-day retreat at Serenity House of Sobriety
in Tagaytay City on August 26, 2005. With the theme, “Children in the Bible, Children in our Time” the retreatants
engaged in small group sessions involving self-disclosure on their walk with God, Bible study, singing and team-
building activities. A hundred percent attendance was achieved in this first-time retreat activity exclusively for
school personnel, which was facilitated by the Pastoral Team comprised by Pastor Leng Lubang, Bro. Jing
    Calungin and Sis. Wilma Pelagio.

 Spiritual Formation Week. Daily 30-minute chapel services in the morning, a Bible Quiz and a culminating
activity on the last day marked the observance of Spiritual Formation Week, which was
conducted for the first time in the DLA. The speakers included Pastor Leng Lubang, Sis,
Wilma Pelagio and Bro. Jing Calungin. Follow-up discussions on the sub-themes tackled
during chapel service were facilitated by the class advisers in their respective rooms.
Each class also shared varied presentations during the culminating activity on the last day.
Winners in the Bible Quiz included Mernard Loui Landicho, Dionyell Julia De Pedro and Phoebe Gift Odulio for
Gr. VI level; Vincent Reolope, Niña Bajade and Mara Eriza Mamaril for Gr. V, all listed according to their ranking,
     st rd

Joel Gervacio serving as guitarist and Mr. Louie De Ocampo as Quiz Master.
