Presented by: What is the Human Race? The Human Race is a nationwide, community fundraising event that allows participants to raise money for their favorite nonprofit (agency/church/school PTA) by running, walking, or rolling their way to the finish line on race day. The Triad’s local Human Race is planned, managed, and promoted by The Volunteer Center of Greensboro, Inc. The 16th annual Human Race is scheduled for March 20, 2010, from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon at Grimsley High School. 2009 Local Human Race Statistics • Over $180,000 raised for 120 nonprofits • An average of over $1,583 per nonprofit Cumulative Local Human Race Statistics • $3.5 million raised in the past 15 years Walking Teams Each year, about 20 organizations participate in The Human Race by forming Walking Teams. Every individual on a Walking Team can raise funds for a differ- ent nonprofit. However, some Walking Teams will focus their efforts and select one nonprofit to support as a group. The Volunteer Center of Greensboro provides all of the necessary forms and information directly to Walking Teams. Team members only need to volunteer their time to raise funds for the nonprofit they would like to support. Forming a Human Race Walking Team will provide your organization with an op- portunity to give back to the community in an effective and visible manner. It is also a great way to build teamwork, promote exercise, and improve morale. Walk- ing Team members can enjoy the event by walking and spending time together at The Human Race. There will be live music and family fun activities. Individuals may also register to compete in the competitive 5K run. If your company or group is interested in participating, contact The Volunteer Center of Greensboro at (336) 373-1633 or email@example.com.
