JIM EASON is a talk radio pioneer who hosted the highly-
rated Jim Eason Show on KGO Newstalk 810, the Bay Area's #1
station, for over 20 years. Originally from North Carolina, Jim
served in the USAF as a forecaster with the Air Weather Service at
bases throughout the U.S., Morocco and Greenland. After his
service, Jim enrolled at San Francisco State in the Radio/
TV/Film Department and was elected General Manager of the
school’s Radio/Television Guild while running the campus radio
station. After graduation, Jim became Production Assistant for
KGO-TV (ABC7) in San Francisco.
Jim moved to radio in 1965 as a writer/producer at KCBS where
he created and hosted the successful quiz show “Testing: 1-2-
3”. He went on to host talk shows at various Bay Area stations
and for a time was Executive Producer at KCBS all-news radio.
He returned to KGO Radio in 1970 as host of the Jim Eason Show
where he built an illustrious career interviewing such guests
as William F. Buckley, Steve Allen, Ronald Reagan, Alex Haley,
Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Mel Torme and Rosemary Clooney.
He originated many on-air campaigns including the “Cafe-Oh-
No” boycott of coffee when prices rose from 25 to 50 cents,
“Ray Charles for President”, and “D.R.I.P.”, (“Don’t Return
Incumbent Politicians”). Jim was also an early pioneer of
remote broadcasting from outside the studio.
Jim always signed off by saying “Do what you can – but behave
yourself”, his way of urging listeners to push on and keep trying, but
also to stay inside the law. Living up to his slogan, Jim decided to
leave radio while still on top and pulled the plug in 2000. He
and his wife, Barbara, then moved to the California Gold
Country to be closer to family including their daughter, Lauren,
and granddaughter, Isabel. Their son, James Eason, an AFTRA
and SAG actor in New York, is engaged to actress Jessica Allen.
In Jim’s Words:
“God has really blessed me. Throughout my career I was always
number one, no one ever beat me, and I retired undefeated. I have
a wonderful family and many good friends. If I were to give any advice
to new broadcasters, it would be ‘Take any advice from anyone-
including me-with a grain of salt. Don’t let anyone tell you what to
do or how to do it. What do we know? You are you–do it your way.’
I would also strongly advise members of AFTRA and SAG to get
involved with your Credit Union. I’m sure glad I did.”
What are eStatements – and how
do I sign up?
___________ (A) ___________
eStatements are electronic statements available any
time through our virtual branch website. They eliminate
paper statements sent to you via US mail, making it less
likely that your personal information can be lost or stolen.
The Credit Union will send you an email whenever you
have a new statement available and you also have
access to the previous 24 months of statements! Take
advantage of this great service by logging on to your
account at our website, clicking the “eStatements” tab

Why do I need a checking account to use
online Bill Pay?
___________ (A) ___________
When you pay a bill online it’s sort of like writing an
electronic check, so you do need to have a Credit Union
checking account. Enrolling in Bill Pay is simple and
it’s easy to create a personal payee list and schedule
payments to anyone you choose. Payments can be made
one time or scheduled on a recurring basis—especially
helpful for regular payments that are always the same.
To get started, just log on to your account at our virtual
branch website and click on “Bill Pay.” Once you
enroll you can add payees, make payments, and view
your payment history. It’s so easy you’ll wonder why
you ever wrote a check!
Where can I learn about protecting my
money and identity?

consumer and knowing what you should do – and
should not do – to protect yourself. Go to our website
and click on the “Security Center” link or the “Protect
