The Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Robert Delarm has
Barbara Herrmann
been selected for the 2009 Vivian Gaines Tanner Paxton Business of the Year Award.
Treasurer Mr. Delarm is the owner of Delarm’s Auto Body. Bob runs this family owned busi-
ness with both sons, Bruce and Charlie. Mr. Delarm not only invests in his property, but
also in his staff by keeping up with current trends in their industry. In this way he serves
Board of Directors both the Hyde Park Community and our tourists by providing good honest service. He is
Robert Delarm the local Rep for Triple AAA. He enhances the employment opportunities in Hyde Park and
makes contributions to Tourism in Hyde Park and Volunteerism.

The selection committee, composed of past Award recipients, cited many wonderful
John Paxton reasons behind their selection which included the recent additions to the property,
Paxton Tanner Gallery rehabilitation of existing buildings, new landscaping including the beautiful stone walls
Timothy Millard and installation of 1930s industrial-style lighting. The group also praised the warm and
Sound of Life Radio Network welcoming atmosphere at the site; one enjoyed both by citizens of Hyde Park and by the
thousands of tourists who visit throughout the year.

A Night of Celebration!
The annual, sold out dinner saluting the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce Vivian Gaines Tanner-
Paxton Business of the Year was recently held on May 14, 2009 at The Culinary Institute of America
in the Saint Andrews Cafe.
This year’s sponsors for the event were our friends at the Culinary Institute of America and
Rhinebeck Savings Bank . As part of the evening's events, Mr. and Mrs. Delarm were presented
with an original work by the late Vivian Gaines Tanner - Paxton, donated by John Paxton, owner of
The Tanner Paxton Gallery, 44 Bennett Rd. Poughkeepsie. A Silent Auction was also held to benefit
the Hyde Park Chamber's ongoing beautification program. It was a wonderful evening for all!
The Hyde Park Chamber Of Commerce
wishes to thank all the businesses and
organizations that donated gifts for our
Silent Auction. We ask that all our members
support these local businesses.

“The Great
Cookie
Bake-Off”
The Young Chef Academy owner, Nina Doyle, spearheaded “The Great Cookie
Bake-Off” this past October in support of our troops. The Young Chefs teamed
up with the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce, Coppola’s of Hyde Park, Pough-
keepsie Moose Club #904, and Anderson Center for Autism to bake 6,000 home-
made cookies. Included in the cookie deliveries were note cards created by chil-
dren and adults of Anderson Center. Disposable cameras were also sent to the
troops so they could take photos and mail them back to Hyde Park. This event
received international news coverage and spawned much interest in similar events
nationwide.
“Tourism In Your Own Back Yard” For seven years, the Hyde Park Cham-
ber of Commerce has been sponsoring
local students’ visits to the FDR site. This
year the Hyde Park School District was
able to send all its fourth graders. The
children are exposed to age-appropriate
educational programs, designed and led
by Jeff Urbin at the Wallace Center. Dur-
ing their lunch period, the students are
welcomed by Chamber Ambassador Vol-
unteers. They are treated to free ice
cream that is donated by Jon Maeder’s
Dairy Queen on Rte. 9. Also, each stu-
dent receives a ‘goodie bag’ containing
items donated by local businesses.
