                              CPS Presents Chris Botti

Community Performance Series is proud to kick off its 20th Anniversary season

with a performance by talented jazz trumpeter, Chris Botti. Fresh from his performance

with the Boston Philharmonic, best-selling jazz artist Botti will make his Potsdam debut

Saturday September 20th, 2008 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Hall at SUNY Potsdam. Botti’s

talent and musicality has earned him best selling albums including When I Fall in Love

and To Love Again, both on the Top Jazz Album Charts. Botti has worked with

celebrated artists including Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Sting, and film composer John

Barry. Chris Botti performed in Sting’s band for four years and Sting praised him saying

“He works hard, and you know, you see a star a mile away.”

Botti’s music promises to give the listener a unique blend of jazz, pop, and

classical music. His new CD Italia was inspired by the sights and sounds of Italy and

demonstrates Botti’s talent as both a performer and composer. For his newest album,

Chris Botti has drawn from various musical genres from classical opera to Paula Cole. In

this new release, Chris Botti uses classical trumpet techniques and phrasing for a truly

unique musical experience.
