Gartholwg Lifelong Learning Centre-300 up!

Following the successful Open Day held at the new Gartholwg Lifelong Learning Centre
on December 9 Cameron Scarlett age 5 from Tonteg was enrolled as the 300 member of
the Cybercafe „Café Blas‟. In recognition of this landmark a pleased Cameron was
presented with a gift from Mr Dennis Jarman.

The Open Day was organised to give local people an opportunity to visit the new state of
the art facility at Church Village that includes a Theatre, IT suite, Café Blas, Recording
Studio and numerous teaching classrooms. Centre Manager Wendy Edwards noted,
“The success of the Open Day was very pleasing and the response from the local
community to the courses and activities held at the Centre bodes well for the New Year”.

The classes for the New Year include pottery, jewellery making, yoga, floral art, Spanish,
French, Welsh, I.T. and Photography. Most of the courses are free of charge and provide
an excellent opportunity for people to learn new skills and develop existing skills. The
events for the New Year include a St. David‟s Day celebration, pampering evening to
coincide with Mothers Day and a Film Club for children and adults. For a free brochure
