It is unclear why the Chavin culture disappeared, although some believe that the ruins of
Chavin de Huantar offers clues about why some civilizations disappeared.

Most theories say the demise of Chavin because of environmental conditions including
the occurrence of an earthquake, while other allegations are jockeying for power.
