Your Invitation to attend
Healthy Start and Vitamin D Deficiency Conference
Friday March 13th 2009, 12 noon, JJB Stadium, Wigan
The positive regional adoption of Healthy Start has sadly not been reflected in the take up of vitamin
supplements. There has been a significant increase across the North West of babies and young
children presenting a Vitamin D deficient related condition. The event will provide an opportunity to
explore the issues surrounding this important public health concern.
Presentations on the day will cover:
♦ The signs and symptoms of Vitamin D related conditions and how to manage them.
♦ The latest information from the Department of Health about the Healthy Start programme,
particularly about initiatives to increase uptake of vitamin supplements.
♦ Two examples of good practice from Healthy Start programmes in the NW.
♦ Confirmed speakers include Dr Geeta Das & members of the national Healthy Start team.
This event is aimed at those working at both the commissioning and provider levels of services for
babies and young children. It is open to all within this sector, from midwives to nursery nurses, PCT
Healthy Start Leads, general practitioners, health visitors and anyone wishing to know more about
this health issue.
This event is being provided free of charge and early registration is advised.
The event will begin with a lunch followed by presentations, with an expected finish time of 4pm.
To register for a place please complete the attached booking form and return it to Roger Lincoln by
