NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the North Carolina
Utilities Commission entered an Order on May 30, 2006,
in Docket No. E-7, Sub 795, approving a one-year rate
decrement of 0.22 cents per kwh (including North
Carolina gross receipts tax), or approximately
$2,825,000 on an annual basis, for retail customers of
Duke Energy – Nantahala Area. The rate decrement is
related to cost savings associated with the merger of
Duke Energy Corporation and Cinergy Corp.
The decrement, which is effective for bills rendered on
and after July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007, will
result in a monthly rate decrease of approximately
$2.20 for each 1,000 kwh of usage per month.
