The Immigration Task Force of the UCC Minnesota Conference invites all UCC churches throughout Minnesota to join the Immigration Task Force and other people of faith this holiday season in a number of ways as we begin to prepare ourselves and our elected officials for humane and just immigration reform this coming year. In this season of Advent, let us prepare the way for those who have no inn to receive them or who are forced to flee. 1. Holiday Postcard Campaign: join the national Interfaith Immigration’s Coalition’s Holiday Postcard Campaign. This holiday season individual and faith communities from across the country will come together to send a simple message to a member of congress: Help keep immigrant families together by supporting comprehensive reform now. There are two ways to request postcards for your church. You may email liza.lieberman@hias.org to request postcards to be sent directly to you or you may pick up postcards at St. Martin’s Table (2001 Riverside Ave. in Minneapolis or you may them up from the MN UCC office. 2. Faith Action at Ramsey County Adult Detention Center in St. Paul The UCC Task Force and UCC churches along with Jewish Community Action are co- sponsoring this Faith Action at Ramsey County Adult Detention Center on December 6, 2009 called Light in a Time of Darkness. Please join us as we celebrate the meaning of light in our faith traditions through prayer and song. Join as we gather to hear the prayers of the family and friends who have someone detained inside. This monthly Faith Action goes from 2:30-3:00 PM at the end of visiting hours. 3. No Human Being is Illegal: Community Forum on Immigration Reform- January 30-31, 2010 at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Wayzata. Evening talk with questions and answers with Dr. Luis De La Torre from Illif Seminary in Colorado. Sunday afternoon community forum with workshops and meeting with our elected officials. Join the Task Force and other members of our faith communities in learning about the issues and mobilizing for reform. Please feel free to contact your Task Force for worship ideas for the season of Advent and Epiphany related to immigration or to have one of us come and preach or lead an Adult Education forum. Thank you for your support and believing we can make our society more equitable and are immigration system more humane. We are still in the process of recruiting new members for the Task Force so if you are interested, please contacts us. Peace and Blessings, Your MN UCC Immigration Task Force: Rev.
