A special thank you goes to Kirk Williams for organizing the great pictures he took at OTHG events during the 2005 season into the
awesome slide show shown at the banquet. If you would like your own personalized MX poster, or have one designed as a gift for a
friend, you can visit Kirk’s website at www.mymxposter.com. If you need some marketing assistance at your company, Kirk can help
you with that as well. Some of the pictures on the slide show were taken by Dianne Wentz. You can see Dianne’s impressive picture
collection at www.dwp.smugmug.com/Motorcycles and order any you like from her.

I would like to express gratitude to everyone for the OTHG jersey presented to me at the banquet. It has Jimbo’s name and riding
number 412 on it and was signed by many people who attended the banquet. It was an unexpected and thoughtful gift I will treasure.
I don’t think I would have made it without all the support I’ve been showered with from all the friends I have in the OTHG. You are
an extraordinary group of people that I am honored to know. Sincerely, Sandy Holman

SAN BERNARDINO, CA

Calm, sunny skies gave way by afternoon to strong, gusty winds, which greeted the 128 Over The Hill Gang riders on hand, along with
ROTMX riders, and those contesting the Gang’s newly added Open class, for riders of all ages and skill levels.

This year’s first race schedule was set up by Reid Franke, who appointed the Pros and Experts to kick off the new season’s first moto. Over 30
Pro Suzuki 450 rider Jason Larson showed the two clubs the fast way around the track. He quadded into the rhythm section, which no other
rider attempted. Everywhere else, he was just plan fast! There were two steep downhills, and Larson was accelerating down them.

At the start, David Fontes was in fourth place. Paul Kuehnel, riding in the Over 30 Intermediate class, came in hot on the inside.

“I got hit with water and I had no vision,” Fontes said. “Kuehnel cross-rutted, and I moved into third, behind Paul Needles. I just clicked
away. I knew Needles was a smart rider, but I’d try to stay with him and wear him out and get him at the end. I’m a plumber by trade, and
I’ve got a La Rocco-style strength.”

Under Fontes’ pressure, Needles fell on lap six after mis-shifting in the corner. Fontes waited patiently for Needles’ bike to be moved out of
the way.

“Mike Webb got around us,” Fontes said. “Needles and I got around Webb in the chicane.”

Needles pressured Fontes at the end, but Fontes held on for the moto-one win in the Over 45 Pro class. Fontes’ 2006 Honda 450 seemed so
strong and yet so user-friendly at the same time.

In moto two, Fontes got the holeshot, and he looked over to the right to catch a glimpse of Larson.

“I knew he was the faster rider,” Fontes said, “but I still led my class for the moto win.”

Fontes helped out the club by watering the track and announcing before collecting his Pro payback.

Over 30 Intermediate-class rider Bernard Daily led his rich, talent-filled class. Daily tripled into the rhythm section but elected not to do the
tabletop afterward. Curt Bennett kept Daily within view by flying high over it. Final Lap Magazine co-editor Mike “Sir Smiley” Ryer won moto
two.

David Anderson won both motos in the Over 30 Beginner class. Jon Agnew could not recoup after falling while pressuring Anderson in moto
one. Andy Laviolette showed good, smooth, safe speed while battling with a passel of other riders to capture second, over Ryan Rantzon.

Over 30 Novice rider Brad Huber controlled his 450cc Honda perfectly to lead his class and the Over 38 Novices around the turns and up the
hill in moto one. Aaron Lunsford won moto two.

The odds-on favorite in the Over 38 Novice class, Mark Bellman, won moto one hands down. In moto two, though, Bellman went off into the
uphill soft stuff. Bellman charged back, but the short moto allowed John Lombardo to capture the overall.

Over 38 Intermediate rider Arnie Davis continued his holeshot reign. The long start and long, sweeping Talladega turn gave Dean Adkins the
opportunity to outcorner Davis and settle into the first spot as the nine riders went up the first of two uphills. After three laps, David DuBois
took over the lead, and Richard Aldrich battled through the pack and tripled past DuBois for a short stint. Craig McCarley won moto two, after
pressuring and outjumping DuBois in the wind.
