Introduction
This advanced training guide is used to guide you the overall process of the advanced
technologies and tools for Business Desktop Deployment. And it based on the Business
Desktop Deployment Solution Accelerator 2007 Standard Edition Beta 1. You should read the
Release Note and the previous training guide before using this advanced training guide.
In this advanced training guide, we will focus on Lite Touch Installation for Windows Vista
Deployment using Windows Deployment Services, Application Compatibility, Office 2007
Unattended Installation….
For the advanced information and steps of Lite Touch Installation and Zero Touch Installation,
Please read the Getting Start Guide and the Feature Team Guides of Business Desktop
Deployment Solution Accelerator 2007 Standard and Enterprise Edition, Documents of USMT
3.0, Windows AIK, Windows PE 2.0, Application Compatibility, Windows Deployment Service
and Office Customization Tools

Concept
Business Desktop Deployment Solution Accelerator provides proven tools and practices that
enable IT professionals to: Create a software and hardware inventory to assist in deployment
planning; Test applications for compatibility with Windows Vista and mitigate the compatibility
issues discovered during the process; Set up an initial lab environment with deployment and
imaging servers; Customize and package core and supplemental applications; Automate
desktop image creation and deployment; Ensure that the desktop is hardened to improve
security within the environment; Manage processes and technologies to produce a
comprehensive and integrated deployment.
It contains guidance, sample templates, and technology files (such as scripts and configuration
files). It presents deployment guidance as feature team guides that thoroughly explain each
deployment process. The guidance in the Solution Accelerator for BDD is structured according
to the feature teams and processes.

Lab Environment
You need to use the 3 Virtual machines of for the Lab.

Host Machine

1. Install Virtual Server 2005 R2 with the complete and default options for test the Master
     Image deployment by using WDS
2. Create the Virtual Machines by using Virtual Server Administration Website.
3. Configure the Network adapters options to Internal Network for each Virtual Machine
4. Configure the Ethernet (MAC) address options to Static for each Virtual Machine.
5. Configure the Internal Virtual Network to Disable DHCP.

Note| PXE boot support has been added to the virtual machine network adapter in Virtual
Server 2005 R2. This means that when the appropriate network infrastructure is in place, you
can perform a network installation of a guest operating system without needing a PXE boot
floppy disk.

Deployment Server
