                                             Conditions of Entry and Prizes

1.      Entries will be received at Mt Gravatt Showgrounds Tuesday 22nd July between 10am to 12.30 pm and 1pm
        and 3pm, Wednesday 23rd July 3pm to 6pm and Thursday 24th 10am to 12 noon. For deliveries outside
        these hours contact Shirley direct.
2.      Cost of entry $2.00 per item. (inc. G.S.T.) This amount is not refundable.
3.      Advise approximate size of article to assist in planning of space.
4.      An entry must have the competitors name hidden from sight from the judges.
5.      Any entry not collected after 30 days of the termination of the show will become the property of the Show
        Society and may be disposed of as the management committee directs.
6.      Each entrant may have up to five (5) entries per class.
7.      All care will be taken at the show, BUT the insurance will be the responsibility of the competitor.
8.      The Show Society reserves the right to place in their correct classes, exhibits considered entered in the wrong
        class.
9.      Judging will take place on Thursday 24th July 2008 commencing at 1pm.
10.    All decisions of the Judges of the Mt Gravatt Show are final and are not subject to review.
11.    Mt Gravatt Show Cards will be awarded from first to third places dependent on the number of entries
       received.
       Highly Commended cards will also be presented.
12.    The Society reserves the right to give open orders and/or goods in lieu of prize money.
13.    If items are for sale, display the sale price, otherwise NFS. There is a 20% commission on all sales.
14.    Entries are restricted to Amateurs only. Teachers or Tutors, who receive income from their particular art are
       NOT eligible to enter except Folk Art.
15.    Entries can be picked up from the Show after 4p.m. on Sunday July 27th July 2008, no later than 5pm.
16.    All complaints must be directed to the Chief Steward.
17.    A competition entry may be photographed for the purpose of the Show Society, including publication.

                                              JUDGING CRITERIA

The Judges will award points to each entry on the basis of:

DESIGN - 25 points
Proportion and perspective, line, centre of interest, suitability of purpose, choice of material, aesthetic appeal, artistic
appeal and original design concept.

WORKMANSHIP and TECHNIQUE - 40 points
Evidence of good tool technique, clean edges and corners, accuracy, thicknesses (consistent where appropriate),
matching surfaces, grain alignment, tool marks, pick-outs.

DEGREE of DIFFICULTY - 10 points
Actual degree of difficulty. Use of advanced or non-standard techniques. Complexity.

FINISH - 25 points.
Absence of sanding marks, even finish, dust free, good feel and texture, appropriate for the entry.

TOTAL - 100 points
The Judges slips will be tallied up and the entry with the highest points will be awarded the prize.

 A special award will be made for the entry which receives the most votes from the public.
This award will be a $50.00 Gift Voucher
