                       Sears Canada Recalls Kenmore® Cool Touch Toasters
TORONTO, ON – October 23, 2008 - Sears Canada is issuing a recall for the Kenmore® Cool Touch 2-slice and 4-
slice toasters due to a potential safety hazard which may cause the units to overheat, posing a possible fire hazard.


The affected products were sold at Sears Canada retail stores as well as through the Sears Canada catalogue and
on-line between January 2007 and October 2008, with a regular selling price of $34.99 (2-slice) and $64.99 (4-slice).
The affected model and date code numbers and corresponding Sears item numbers are as follows:

The item number, model number and date code are located on the under-side of the toaster. Only date code 7084 is
affected by this recall.


Sears has received a few reported incidents, with no injuries to date.


In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada urges customers who own an affected Kenmore® Cool Touch
Toaster to cease use immediately and return it to their nearest Sears location for a full refund if accompanied by a
receipt of sale, or for the lowest selling price without a receipt.


Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise customers of this safety recall. Sears Canada is
bringing this matter to the public’s attention in the interest of consumer safety and apologizes for any inconvenience.
