The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Division of Safety Research (DSR), within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), located in Morgantown, West Virginia, has an immediate opening for the position of Chief, Analysis and Field Evaluations Branch (AFEB). The Division of Safety Research serves as the focal point for the NIOSH occupational traumatic injury research program and includes national surveillance of occupational morbidity and mortality, an epidemiologic field investigation program of workplace fatalities; analytic epidemiologic research assessing etiology and intervention effectiveness; and human factors and safety engineering research. The Branch Chief is responsible for directing the DSR program aimed at conducting analytic epidemiologic research of occupational traumatic injuries. Epidemiologist
The Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and Ph.D. Program in Gerontology is seeking an epidemiologist as part of a major initiative to further expand its research strength in aging. This position is one of six new positions for tenuretrack or tenured distinguished faculty that have been funded by the Kentucky Research Challenge Trust Fund. The Trust Fund is part of an effort to make the University of Kentucky a top-20 public research university. The Sanders-Brown Center on Aging has an international reputation for its research programs and is designated a Tier I Program of the University. We seek an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to develop a strong program of funded research on the epidemiology of neurodegenerative diseases that will complement existing programs of research on Alzheimer's disease, other neurodegenerative diseases, and stroke. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. Preference will be given to candidates with postdoctoral experience. CLINICAL EPIDEMIOLOGIST Mayo Clinic
The Section of Clinical Epidemiology at the Mayo Clinic has two entry-level openings for doctorally prepared (MD plus graduate training or PhD or equivalent) epidemiologists in our large and active group. These positions present an exciting opportunity for the successful candidates to participate in a wide variety of population-based studies of the frequency, etiology, and natural history of disease, as well as evaluations of the impact of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in these conditions. Applicants should have strong methodologic training in epidemiology with evidence of research productivity in terms of peerreviewed publications. This individual will be expected to bring an epidemiologic perspective to cohesive working groups of clinicians, basic scientists and statisticians, and to serve as a catalyst to encourage interested clinicians to become actively involved in research relevant to clinical epidemiology. The successful candidate must also have the interest and ability to function as a methodologic consultant on selected clinician-initiated epidemiologic studies across a wide range of clinical problems. The Mayo Clinic is a non-profit clinic and hospital complex staffed by nearly 2,000 physicians and scientists, with an annual research budget exceeding $125 million and a worldwide reputation for excellence. The Rochester Epidemiology Project, the unique medical record linkage system for Olmsted County, MN, provides the infrastructure for the conduct of population-based epidemiologic studies of virtually every design. This resource has been used in over 1,000 publications since its inception in 1966. There are no clinical practice responsibilities associated with this position.
