Introduction/Objective: Summarize the history of European settlement in Carolina from the first attempts to settle at San Miguel, Charlesfort, San Felipe, San Marcos, and Albemarle Point. (Indicator 8-1.3) Timeframe: 1-2 days Materials: 0 South Carolina: Historv of an American State textbook, Chapter 3 & 4 Pages 75-88 and 95-102. 0 0 Activity Sheet on "European Settlement in South Carolina~' - Activity state map of South Carolina State map of South Carolina 0 . Instructions: Have students read pages 75-88 and 95-102 in their South Carolina textbook. Students are then to complete the chart and the map on the "European Settlements in South Carolina". After sheet have been assessed, papers should be returned to students. The teacher should then go over the correct answers encouraging students to make corrections.
