Arkansas Tourism and Hospitality Education Foundation Scholarship Application

Dear Applicant: The Arkansas Tourism and Hospitality Education Foundation welcomes your application for a hospitality industry scholarship. A portion of the funds available will be supported by the Co-Branded Scholarship Program of the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Individual awards will range from $300 to $2,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year. To qualify, the applicant must be: 1) a resident of Arkansas, 2) enrolled full-time in an AHA-approved Hospitality Program, and 3) possess leadership abilities and a desire to be a part of the hospitality industry in Arkansas. This student scholarship application must be completed and returned to Arkansas Hospitality Association. No late documents will be accepted! The following items should be included to complete the application: 1) A minimum of two letters of recommendation from persons in the hospitality industry and/or hospitality instructors. 2) High school transcripts for students entering their first year of higher education or school transcripts for returning postsecondary students. 3) For new students and entering freshman we need a copy of your acceptance letter to a post secondary hospitality program stating your intended program of study. 4) General awards require a 2.5 GPA. Co-Branded Scholarship awards require a 2.75 GPA. INSTRUCTIONS TO THE STUDENT: 1) Please print clearly or type your answers. Neatness counts with the selection committee. 2) Please complete the answers to all questions. Unanswered questions penalize applicants. 3) Check your application carefully before returning to AHA. Be sure all required information is correct and that the application is signed and dated. Unsigned applications will be disqualified. 4) IT IS THE APPLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE THAT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION IS RECEIVED AT THE AHA OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. Winners of scholarships for the upcoming academic year will be notified via US mail prior to June 1 . The winners will be asked to: provide a photograph for publications and to attend an Awards presentation which date has not been determined at this time but you will be advised in advance. For those students participating in the Co-Branded funds additional information will be required. Dates and times TBA.
