Berlin/Hanover. At Cebit 2007, AVM is presenting FRITZ! Media 8020, a convenient
device for wireless playing of digital content on TV. The Berlin communication
specialist uses the Universal Plug & Play standard (UPnP AV) for easy connection
and compatibility with other manufacturers' products. This means that you can
easily play local content from media servers and hard drives. FRITZ! Media also
features integrated WM DRM 10 support for video on demand. For a live
demonstration of FRITZ! Media, head to AVM’s Cebit stand No.C48 in Hall 13.

Digital TV over the Internet
FRITZ! Media brings together your Internet connection, PC and TV in your living room.
FRITZ! Media lets you use your TV to play and display digital content such as videos,
photos and music from your PC, your hard drive or the Internet. The premiere version of
FRITZ! Media plays video on demand from the Internet. With the next update, FRITZ!
Media will be able to play IP-TV, video podcasts and video from recorders in your
network. AMV uses standardized applications for all features.

Startup is simple

on screen. FRITZ! Media is operated using the remote control provided. FRITZ! Media
connects to your home network via wireless LAN or LAN. You can select and retrieve
video on demand directly using FRITZ! Media. Films can be saved directly on your PC or
USB memory devices. Your PC stays switched off when you play content directly on
your TV.

FRITZ! Media – technical features
FRITZ! Media has a 600-MHz DSP (digital signal processor) with video co-processor,
enabling compressed audio and video signals to be output digitally, yet it consumes only
5 watts of power. At just 21 x 3 x 14 cm (width x height x depth), FRITZ! Media fits in
perfectly with your media. FRITZ! Media has connections for LAN, WLAN (802.11g++
mode, 125 Mbit), analog AV outputs (FBAS and S-Video), audio (RCA) and USB 2.0.
Wireless connections are encrypted using WPA2. AVM uses WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia)
for optimum bandwidth allocation and multimedia content streaming.

Network-compatible – playback on TV
AVM uses the DLNA (Digital Living Network Association) and UPnP AV standards for
integrating FRITZ! Media into your home network. FRITZ! Media is prepared for future
QoS and multicast protocols such as VLAN and IGMP. By integrating Windows Media
DRM10 digital rights management, FRITZ! Media lets you play protected content
conveniently on your TV. FRITZ! Media will also support future protective mechanisms
such as digital watermarking.

Seamless integration with other FRITZ! products
One of the main focuses during the development of FRITZ! Media was to make the
device easy to install and operate. The new AVM device is compatible with all routers.
Using FRITZ! Media in interaction with FRITZ! Box and FRITZ! Mini is especially easy
and convenient. No extra steps are needed for secure interaction thanks to processes
such as AVM Stick & Surf in conjunction with the FRITZ! WLAN USB Stick, as all
necessary settings including encryption are transmitted automatically.
