							If any of these questions describe you, the Community Relations Coalition (CRC) and Michigan State
University (MSU) invite your application for the 20072008 CRC Internship. MSU undergraduate students
at the sophomore level or above in good academic standing are encouraged to apply for this two-
semester, paid internship.

CRC Interns will spend a minimum of 10 hours/week working toward the mission and purposes of the
CRC: to build trusting relationships between the communities of East Lansing and MSU by fostering
cooperation and communication between neighbors. CRC Interns must be fully available to attend
orientation and training August 2225, 2007. CRC Interns will also enroll in a 23 credit seminar to prepare
and educate Interns on a variety of topics, including but not limited to community development, social
capital, service and leadership. CRC Interns will receive a stipend equivalent to $2,000/academic year.

Sample CRC Intern duties includes: 1) networking with and gathering the varied perspectives of
members of the MSU/East Lansing communities, 2) fostering relationships with and between immediate
neighbors and neighborhood association members, 3) initiating, planning, executing, and participating in
communitybuilding events, 4) educating others about MSU/East Lansing relations, 5) understanding and
utilizing resources in the community and serving as a resource for immediate neighbors, and 6) attending
and actively participating in the CRC.

Successful applicants will exhibit qualities and skills relevant to the duties described above. Preference
will be given to applicants living in East Lansing’s nearcampus neighborhoods, those immediately
adjacent to Grand River Ave., Hagadorn Rd., and S. Harrison Ave. Former CRC Interns have gone on to
participate in Teach for America, attend law school, work at the Prima Civitas Foundation and other non-
profit organizations related to community development, and manage an art gallery, among other things.
