A scientific field called glycoscie nce and/or glycobiology disagrees w ith much of the popular opinion abo ut sugar, and not just regarding we ight loss. There is an ever-increas ing amount of research that suggest s certain types of sugars can have an enormous benefit to our health, including boosting human immune res ponse, to inhibiting cancerous tumo r growth. _Glyco_ is derived from the Greek w ord _sweet_ and refers to monosacch arides or sugars. For decades, Scie ntists have known about the link be tween sugars, carbohydrates and the ir effect in boosting energy. It_s no secret that carbs and sugars are our main source of fuel, and help us perform our everyday tasks, as w ell as provide the oomph we need to hit the ol_ stairclimber. But espe cially since the popularity of the Atkins diet which demonizes carbs a nd sugars, many people have been mi ssing out on the benefits of the sw eet stuff. Glycoscience is amassing more and m ore evidence that the role of carbs is crucial to maintaining the heal thy function of the body. Recent scientific evidence is showi ng that these sugars and carbs help us on a cellular level. They allow our cells to better interact with each other, thus making every basic bodily function more efficient and effective. This cellular response from carbs flies in the face of the fad low-carb diets that are finall y beginning to wan. What was former ly a no-carb or low-carb mentality really should be a _right-carb_ men tality. With the right carbs and su gars, the human body becomes a well -oiled machine that can live longer , and more importantly live better than ever before. Human beings, from a purely biologi cal standpoint, have not really cha nged in thousands of years. We are still basically the same beings tha t survived on mainly plants for mil lennia. And yet the food we eat tod ay is a far cry from the food we at e thousands of years ago or even as much as 50 years ago. Genetic engi neering, growth hormones, and prese rvatives are now an integral part o f almost everything we eat. Especia lly with fast food, and enormous po rtion of the population eats foods that are virtually bereft of nutrie nts. Empty calories are on the diet s of millions of people every singl e day. Now although most people would agre e with that statement, most of them would heartily disagree that sugar and carbs are the answer to many o f the health questions plaguing our modern society. Well surprise ever ybody&sugar might be the way to go. Again though, they have to be the right sugars; the monosaccharides f ound in plants, not the table sugar you find in your local grocery store. So the question remains, where do w e get these beneficial sugars? Simp le. The company is called Mannatech .
