             Self-drive tour to Tibetan Shangri-La (15 Days)

Day 01
You will be warmly welcomed by our English speaking guide at Beijing Capital
International Airport and transferred to the deluxe hotel Beijing Presidential Plaza for a
good night rest.

Today we are going to have a full day sightseeing. We will visit the largest square of the
world - Tian'anmen Square to take pictures of the Gate of Heavenly Peace, and explore
the Palace Museum in the morning. After lunch, we will visit the Temple of Heaven, a
place where the ancient Chinese emperors worshiped heaven and prayed for good
harvest. You will enjoy the delicious Peking Duck Dinner in the evening and Beijing Opera
Show after it.

Tian’anmen Square                      the Great Wall

A whole day excursion to the famous Great Wall. The Great Wall is not just a wall, but an
endless fortress with battlements and watch towers, which extends more than 6,000
kilometers and truly one of the seven wonders of the world. After lunch, we will visit the
Imperial Summer Palace. Tonight you will have Imperial Dinner in the Lakeside
Fangshan Restaurant.

Today our guide will take you to the Rickshaw Tour through old narrow lanes of Beijing.
During the trip you will also have a cup of tea in a local family. If time’s allowed you will do
some shopping in a famous silk store. Fly to Kunming by late afternoon flight. After three
hours you will arrive in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province located in the southwest
of China. A dinner of local specialities upon arrival and have a good rest in your deluxe
hotel – Bank Hotel Kunming.

This morning you will visit the Stone Forest. The Stone Forest is in Lunan Yi Nationality
Autonomous County, which is about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Kunming and requires
only a three-hour drive. It covers an area of 400 square kilometers (96,000 acres). The
stones are in various formations – animals, plants and even human beings. Fly to Lijiang
by a late afternoon flight. One hour later you will arrive in Lijiang. After dinner have a
good rest in the best local hotel – Grand Lijiang Hotel.

This morning we will start our driving trip. The first stop is Yulong Snow Mountains Located
25 kilometers north of Lijiang. Take cable car to the snow-capped top. Then drive to The
Baisha Mural located in the Baisha Village on the plain north of Lijiang . the mural was
made from 1385 to 1619 , employing the eclectic artist energies of Chines Daoist , Tibetan
and Naxi Buddhists and local dongba shamans. In the evening you can enjoy Old Naxi
Music Performances.

Free today for you to explore the town. The Old Town of Lijiang, a well-preserved old city
of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture, is a central town of the Lijiang Autonomous
County of the Naxi Ethnic Minority in Yunnan Province. Located on the plateau which is
2,400 meters (7,874 feet) above the sea level. The Old Town which occupies an area of
three point eight square kilometers (912 acres) was firstly built in the late Song Dynasty
and the early Yuan Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years.

Lijiang Old Town

Today we drive to Zhongdian 145km north of Lijiang. We will pass by Tiger Leaping Gorge
3900m deep formed by Yangtze River cutting between the Yulong Snow Mountain and the
Haba Mountains. We will spend a couple of minutes on the Gorge. Then drive to White
Water Terrace for a short visit. Upon arrival in Zhongdian we visit the largest Tibetan
Buddhist monastery in Yunnan, Songzanlin Si, a 300-year-old monastery built by the Fifth
Dalai Lama on the outskirts of Zhongdian. Accommodated in the best local hotel.

Day 9
Today is free for everybody to explore the small town and the Highland grasslands.

White Water Terrace                           The Grasslands

Today we drive to Daocheng (233km), all the way over 3000m. We will drive over a couple
of 4000m high snow mountains. It takes us approximately 8 hours to get to our destination.
We will visit a Tibetan family and an old Tibetan temple in the rest of the afternoon.
Accommodated in the best local hotel.


We will drive to Muli, a county 265km from Daocheng. It takes about 8 hours drive.
Beautiful views along the road are water falls, lakes and colourful flowers. Accommodated
in the best local hotel.


Today we drive to Lugu Lake, 247km in distance. Lugu Lake,2690 metres above sea level
located at the borders between Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces, covers an area of 50
square kilometers. The local Mosuo inhabitants still keep their matriarchal society living

style. We will have some visits including a local family and cruise on the lake. The pretty
and graceful Mosuo girls, the ancient and natural canoes and the moving and pleasant
fishing songs are considered to be the "three most enjoyable things on the lake". We will
stay overnight in the best local hotel or in a local family.

Today we drive back to Lijiang, 205km in distance. Have a good rest and do shopping of
local arts and crafts.

Fly to Beijing via Kunming. Upon arrival met and transferred to the State Guest Hotel for a
good rest.

Our guide will see you off to the Beijing International Airport for your return flight.
