Slide 1:     Welcome and congratulations on your induction!

Slide 2:     This [morning, afternoon, evening] we will be providing you with information
             about your fellow members, as well as ways to make the most of your
             membership in the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International at
             the chapter, regional and international levels.

Slide 3:     You were selected for membership in the honor society because of your
             commitment to excellence and potential for leadership. The honor society is an
             international, nonprofit organization that strives to provide leadership and
             scholarship in practice, education and research to enhance the health of all people.

             In 1922 six nurses founded the honor society at the Indiana University Training
             School for Nurses, now the Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis,
             Indiana. It became the first U.S. organization to fund nursing research in 1936.
             Today, the honor society is the second-largest nursing organization in the world
             and has 433 chapters worldwide in countries including the United States, Canada,
             Hong Kong, Pakistan, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Brazil, the Netherlands,
             Mexico, South Africa, Tanzania, Swaziland and Botswana. The honor society
             also houses the Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library, an online
             library with a collection of more than 17,000 nursing research studies,
             researchers’ demographic information and study abstracts.

Slide 4:     You are now one of the honor society’s more than 340,000 members worldwide.
             Of those 340,000 members, 120,000 are currently active.

Slide 5:     The honor society works to improve the health of all people worldwide by
             supporting the learning and professional development of members who strive to
             improve nursing care.

Slide 6:     As a member, you have access to valuable services and resources provided by the
             honor society within the areas of career development, research and evidence-
             based nursing practices, leadership development and continuing education.

Slide 14:   The best way to make the most of your membership is to get involved! The honor
            society keeps a database of members and their areas of interest and expertise. The
            data is used by chapter leaders, regional coordinators and international board
            members and staff to match individuals with volunteer opportunities that may be
            of interest to them.

Slide 15:   The database is called Volunteer Interest Profile (VIProfile) and you can register
            your interests and expertise online today! Just follow these simple steps:
