The Flight

On May 27, 2006 I woke up excited about this

year’s trip to Hong Kong. I knew that even

though the trip would have tons of fun, we would

have to face a ling and tiring journey. As we

arrived at the airport, I wondered if the flight had

snacks.

As we approached the gate for Continental

Flight CO 1428, my stomach gave an awfully loud

growl. I smelt tongue tickling food from the food

court. As my family approached, I found a few

restaurants. I chose a restaurant called Panda

Express, because it offered the same food my

cousin’s dad sold in his restaurant.

My dad and I quickly ran to the gate, but my

mom and my sister dropped behind and looked at

the delicious Belgian truffles. They sped into the

gate just as it was closing.

Inside the plane there were four toilets, one

for first class only! The flight was a snack flight

which meant that we only got peanuts and drinks!

When the airplane took off, I chewed my gum

so quickly I thought it would blow up. As soon as

my ears stopped popping, I spat the tasteless blob

of plastic into a puke bag, I was glad to be rid of it

at last. I felt uneasy about this flight because

there were sudden freefalls and rises.

My Mom kept whispering, “Go to sleep.” I

ignored her and pulled out a magazine named

“Sky Mall” from the seatback pocket. The rest of

the flight was uneventful.

I think we walked almost a mile before we

reach the gate.

Our family had never tried Cathay Pacific

Airways before, but my aunt assured me that it

was great. As we sat in our seats I noticed a few

objects laying there: a headphone, a few

accessories, and a pack for children. In front

there was and in-flight entertainment screen. As

the flight grew to be very boring, I only slept for

four hours and watched movies the rest of the

time.

As the plane began its final descent, my ears

hurt so much that it felt like someone was truing

to pull my eardrums out! I was so frightened, and

in pain, that I did not speak for about one hour.

We were picked up at Hong Kong

International Airport by my aunt Vivian (Goo

Goo) and our adventure began…
