AIMS: students learn new vocabulary to do with travelling, holidays, staying in a hotel
TIME: 45 minutes
EQUIPMENT: CD ROM English Plus Basic 2, multi- media classroom.
A. WARM UP
Ask students to work with a partner or in small groups and discuss the following questions:
1. What do they take with them when they go on holiday ?
2. Where do they stay ?
3. What do they have to do when they arrive at a hotel?
4. What is the best holiday they have ever had ?
B. MATCHING
Tell students they are going to match the words with definitions in Slovene.
1.luggage a. kos blaga, s katerim se obrišemo po kopanju
2. comfortable b. obzidan prostor z vodo, v katerem se kopamo
3. swimming pool c. list s tekstom in rubrikami za ustrezne podatke
4. fill in d. sredstvo za umivanje
5. form e. knjiga, v kateri je seznam gostov

C. GAP FILL / COMPLAINING A letter of complaint
Ask students what can go wrong if they are on holiday and what they can do ? Ask them also
if they have ever had any bad experience with hotel staff, accommodation...
Tell them they are going to complete the letter of complaint using the words from the box.
Refund, include, available, faithfully, facilities, bathroom, balcony, accommodation, booked,
conditioning.

There are 27 words in vocabulary. Choose up to 20 words from the list ( or else it will take too
long ) and tell students to complete the table with any six words they want. When they have
done so, tell them to listen carefully and cross out the word they recognise by listening to your
definitions.
Examples :
1. nearly, but not quite - almost
2. in, at any place at all - anywhere
3. to reach a place at the end of a journey - arrive
4. into the place where someone, something was before- back
5. a shore of the sea covered by sand, stones- beach

E. HOMEWORK
Tell them to go to a travel agency, take some brochures about summer holidays and bring
them to school.
They should also consider what is important when they want to book a holiday and what they
ask at a travel agency.
